Yesterday I was just sitting at my computer killing time, and what I really wanted to do was start up a good MMORPG...I really felt like building up a character, training, fighting...all that good stuff but I had absolutely nothing to play.
I played Runescape for about a year got up to level 96, before I quit because it got boring...I tried Guild Wars, and just couldn't get into it, I tried but it wasn't really for me.
Right now I'm willing to save up a bunch of money and pay for a good game...
anyone know what might work for me? the things I'm looking for primarily are..
1.) Mostly tailored for PVE I want to quest, train up my character....and I don't want to play a game that is almost impossible to do solo.
2.) a good variety of weapons, armor, items... I want to play a game where I can focus on getting money for top items.
3.)being able to work on some non combat skills would be great also.
thanks in advance I'm new here.

First off welcome to mmorpg.com
It sounds to me like EQ2 might be a good start, if your computer can handle it. Very fun quest, and its not so hard to get a group.
COH/COV might also be good, also mostly a pve game, their is some optional *i think?* pvp, however at higher lvls it becomes difficult to solo, usually you'll get a group within the first half hour you logged in though.
I would recommend FFXI but its a wee bit advanced/complicated if your just coming back into mmo's and you havent tried any of the recent ones. But thats up to you if you want to check it out, its a pretty good game.
What else...how could i forget, everyones faviorate, World of Warcraft! Its definantly a good pick if your just coming into mmo's and want somthing simple, fun, and easy to progress in. It also has the largest *yet somewhat immature* community out of any mmo. If you only want to pve be sure to join a server that says its PVE, pvp servers will allow others to kill you, though you dont loose anything if you are pked, so thats up to you.
People wil probably flame me all night for recommending WoW, and say all sorts of stuff. Look into it yourself though, see if its what you want.
Also go through the game list on the site, lots of info/reviews on them.
Yeah I was really leaning towards WoW since...it seemed like a game I'd be most interested in.
The only thing putting me off were some of the things I had read about the community/ and high level raiding (being dependent on you being in a top guild)...
it has an expansion coming out though and that looks cool.
Yea some people claim they dropped the game once they got to 60 and didnt have the time to raid...still the road to 60 is a long one, unless you have the time to play all day and are mainly focused on getting to 60.
Raiding does take a good chunk of time, I dont bother with it, and I am still enjoying the game with my 60 warrior. I dont have any raid geer or anything, but i do fair in pvp and pve, and their are still tons of solo/group quest to be done.
The game is a little what you make, take the time to explore and go through interesting quest. Grinding to 60 imo wastes alot of the games content, and you skip on alot of fun.
Anarchy Online might be worth a look, it easily fits the parameters you mentioned, is not raid dependant and has a great community.
One warning though, it isl 5 years old and has not had a significant graphics update since. So, although the new expansion Lost Eden that is coming out will significantly improve the graphics, it is not nearly as "flashy" as others in the market.
