One Week of NGE

free2playfree2play Member UncommonPosts: 2,043

I logged out last night, all most to the week. After goofing around the first night, I ended up settling on Oggat as the toon to level and in a week he is a Level 40 Jedi. I have purchased next to nothing, contributed to the community none at all and am almost half way to cap. Unlike PreCU, cap is cap now. While having a PreCU Master Swordy was an accomplishment, it alnoe meant shit. You still needed CA's and armor, a good use of the rest of your skill points and a strong awareness of the AI.

I don't see how this game can survive when I can be at end game in 3 months if I stick my thumb up my ass alot. Like NGE or not, that's not the question. It has no mission or motive. I can comment now with far less of the passion I once had for this game and I see it tits up and soon. Not a want, just what I see in a subscription driven game with little to invest in.

sorry to burst your bubble but you still need good modded clothes, and jedi robes or cloaks. also, if you have toow, you should pick up the injector(+100str/pre) or the miners necklace(+100ag) you will need some good krayt pearls for your ls too. Sure its not the game we all knew and loved, but it is a pale shadow of its former self, and that is something. :D

Why? Those mods are next to worthelss, min - max makes almost no difference, or if it does, it's negligible.

unless you're a duel freak they are waste of resources. All the item dependancy was seen as too hard, so it was removed.

I don't have the expacks. I do have the RoTW expack but it was on my alt account that I haven't activated and don't plan to. I will take the toon to 90, something Oggat never was. He respec'ed alot and I experimented but I don't think I cracked 81 in the month after NGE opened. Maybe your right, we will see and all to soon I think.

Um, they're more useful then you think.  If you have higher agility then your opponent then you will force them to do damage closer to their minimum damage value as well as making them more likely to do a trivial hit on you.  Boost that with precision/strength which makes you more likely to land a critical hit plus damage closer to your max value and you'll out damage them even if they're using the same gear as you.  Combine it with luck and further increase your chances of critcal hits.  Heh, further improve on that by getting a weapon with a elemential damage type and increase the chances of landing a proc special from making them do nothing but trivial hits to landing a fire DoT on them.

This applies to everyone from duelers to PvE'ers.

It might help in PvE, but why would you want to make it any easier?

I'm thinking of instance runs on Mustafar and some on Kashyyyk, which aren't exactly a walk in the park.

OK Obiraik, got any numbers on that for us though?  Looking at the swg forums, I can't seem to find any numbers that actually say if you have a +100 whatever, it will increase/decrease something by X amount.  I've heard a lot of people swear up and down that the numbers matter, and every little bit helps, but really now, let's be realistic.

Is luck still broken?  How could you tell if it wasn't?  Without a combat log, you can't say the modded clothes do a hill of beans, other than it 'feels' like it makes a difference.

I still believe the combat log was removed to hide the fact that some mods are borked, and to hide the fact that future combat skills and mods will be borked.  There is no other reason to not have one.

We have a combat log, returned with chapter 3 ;)

Here's some testing of singular stats http://soe.lithium.com/swg/board/message?board.id=gameguidesht&message.id=90817&view=by_date_ascending&page=1.  It only tests one stat buffed at a time, normally though you'd aim to increase all your stats to stack the bonuses.

Oh, yes, several features of pre-NDG have been restored despite SOE swearing up and down that they never could. The obvious plan is to find that "magical" bit that will bringing players flooding back, without addressing the real isssues that drove them out in the first place. A fool's errand, to be sure.
