How many hours to get your money's worth?

How much time do you need to play your favorite MMO to feel like the $15/month is well spent? It probably depends on whether you have money, and thus, $15 is nothing, or you dont have much and $15 is noticable hit on your expenses.

For me, if I play around 20 h/month, I feel like that is a good value. If it dropped lower than that, I would likely cancel the account because I can't just leave an MMO running on my computer if I am only going to play it sporadically.

For my MMO to be value for money it needs to do the following.

Provide good player interaction.[Teamsppeak, good guild systems]

    Be fun.

Work farly reguly with few downtimes.

provide a good developer groupe who are seen doing there jobs providing future security.

it doesn't really matter to me how much I play, I just want to have fun the time that I'm logged in in a game

if it keeps me entertained, it's worth it for me

    If I squeeze in 2 hours a month, I'm fine with it--cheaper than a movie ( ' ;

Your money's worth when you enjoy the game, no matter how much you play.

It's easy to calculate actually, just consider the average price and duration of a single player game and how many you would play through in a month, then compare.

It's not even worth playing a MMOG unless you play at least 10 hours a month.  But that's just me.   I usually play 20+ hours or so.

If it's worth the time, the price doesn't really matter. But you'll have to play quite a while to make it worth the time ;-)

If I only played one day a week I would think it was a waste of a subscription fee.

Consider this. You easily spend around $15 going out to a bar with your friend or on a dinner, or anywhere from 10-15 on a movie, depending what you get.

If the same money gets you at least 10hrs of enterntainment a month, it's probably worth it.

Then again, depends on your preferences.

I usually play 10+ hours per day, but obviously this is not the average. Assuming a movie theater near you charges about $7 per movie, you could get maybe 5-6 hours of entertainment from it. To get 50x that amount from the same money, and have dozens of stories to tell afterwards, is priceless.

This is the argument I used to convince my parents to let me play my first MMOs, many years ago. Normally, while playing single-player games, I would blow through $100 per month easily. With an MMO, I can play all I want all month, and be totally happy with the $15.

Sounds like a good deal to me.

While I somewhat agree with you, if that 1 day you can log on for 15-20 hours without fail.  And play that whole time it's the same as playing 4hours a day 5 days a week.

If that 1 day aweek you play for 3 or 4 hours odds are after 2 or 3 months all your groupmates will be 20 or 30 lvls higher gettign in cool battles and getting cool gear and you will be still killing orcs and wolfs and bugs no that fun or worth it on that scale.
