From some of the stuff thats going to be launched (WAR Online, PotBS, Vanguard), I think next year might rescue us from the rather stale choices we have today.
I dunno. I mean, I don't think I'll be able to find the time (or the money) to play all three at once. I think that barring some unforseen fuckups, these should keep me entertained for a long time.
I think mmo's are just going to keep charging people more money and stay on the same path that they have. Good MMOs existed in the late 90s-early 2000.
I hope im wrong about that, i'd love to play a fun mmo that cost around 7 bucks a month. I bet it'll be 20 a month as a standard within 2 yrs.

Agree completely. Hopefully theres some devleopers out there that realise this and release a MMORPG that isn't based on the tried and true - grind grind grind.
Bah, you forgot Age of Conan, and its the one that breaks the mold the most.

I think 2007 will be one of the best years in a long long time. Good topic

With high expectations comes lots of broken hearts. The biggest question I have is which one of those games will be a disappointment? I'm gonna go ahead and make a prediction on Vanguard being a flop.
What greater tribute to free will than the power to question the highest of authority? What greater display of loyalty than blind faith? What greater gift than free will? What greater love than loyalty?
Most of those games were planned to release NOW, like 8 hours ago now. But delayed to 2007. Still if you ask me, those all suck Compared to Ragnarok Online 2 and Granado Espada. Mayber Lineage 3, Aion, and Age of Conan. But thats pretty much it.
Well, you can nitpick each title to what you like and what you don't. But next years schedule is alot more promising when compared to what we got this year. Think DDO and Auto Assault. Not exactly big hits.

QFT every year we sit here thinking this year will be the 'year' and every year we are dissapointed agian and agian and agian.

Don't think so. Nothing earth shattering about any of those games. Especially Vanguard. I really don't think that repackaging game features that we've already seen- in a mix-and-match manner; are going to bring anything besides what we've already seen... a stagnant genre where new titles have very little long-term appeal.

I agree with that. 2006 has been a stale year. some acceptable titles like ArchLord, RFO and D&DO came out, but nothing really groundbreaking. I think the MMO's of 2007 will be what the PS3, Xbox360 and WII are for console gamers.

it won't. it has pvp with item full item looting, which is disliked by the majority of MMO gamers. Yes, but I don't meen that Darkfall is the next WoW (millions of players). I meant it is more advanced than the rest. Of course, even that is arguable, but that is just my observation.

Yeah- but the majority of MMO gamers are complete noobs in every sense of the word. They'll grow tired of raiding and PvE soon- it's just going to slowly dawn on these people that unrestricted PvP is where it's at once they've slaughtered so many AI opponents.
It's the natural evolution of a gamer more or less. Either way I don't think anybody interested in darkfall cares whether the majority jumps on the bandwagon or not. There are hundreds of thousands of people interested in darkfall. That's plenty of folks for a stable and longevous community.

corpse looting in pvp is amazing. it makes people actually question whether theyre good enough to be playing pvp. it keeps it selective and elite. The reason it may be disliked by the majority is for that simply reason, the majority can not be elite, so then it's "unfair". go play WoW.
