Most MMORPGs today are based on two things - Fantasy (Which is the majority) and Science Fiction. Only MMORPG I know of that isn't based on these 2 concepts is WW2OL, and that is the exact same reason I was with it for so long. When I first tried Anarchy Online, it was an entirely different world. In WW2OL, I was used to working in large teams all working together to complete different objectives. Anarchy Online (And I'm assuming most every other MMORPG) is more non-team centric, and they never have any real moments that you can look back on and say *Wow, that was awesome!*, yeah I've had a few cool moments in AO, but compared to WW2OL? Nothing
MMORPGs need to start focusing away from the same old boring click and hope you have enough HP or powerful enough weapons concept. They need to start focusing more on making Strategy and team work neccesary to get any where. And death needs to have a bigger punishmet
The most memorable moment in WW2OL? The sun was rising in game, and I noticed the sound of distant Panzers. I was in an A-13 (Light armored vehicle with a powerful gun).
I set up my A-13 in an ambush spot, waiting for the inevitable attack. Peering through my Commanders binoculars, I counted, 1...2....3....4.....5....6....7..8....9.....10 PANZERS! I screamed over the radio comms of the inbound attack. The firefight began.......I fired a round at the rear Panzers left side, smashing into the Panzer with incredible force, it ignited the Panzers engine and the Panzer brewed into a flaming tin can. One of the other Panzers noticed, and scanned the area....I took a shot, and nailed his turret. I killed his gunner...
At this point, the column was well aware of my presence, searching all over for my tank. One spotted me, and immediately opened fire. The round landed right beside me, so I buttoned my commander up. I immediately took aim and fired, knocking out his left track, exposing his right side to me. I took aim, and fired, soon after I died, but the damage was already done. This moment had my adrenaline pumping every moment......
Adrenaline pumping moments is what MMORPGs need, not better Graphics or boring gameplay. Btw, I love AO, It may not produce adrenaline pumping moments, but the community is very cool and its fun hanging around. But I wouldn't mind adrenaline pumping moments I would love it

I've tried playing WWII Online several times. It's fun to just mess around, since I could never figure out what to really do. I would just pick a town to attack and get a tank and drive to the town alone. Of course I usually would die and not really accomplish anything but it was fun just going on little solo missions but that doesn't make me want to pay. Sure sometimes there were other people around that I would follow into attacking a town but I didn't know what I was doing or how too coordinate. I know there is a tutorial to look at it but it is way too long, at least last I looked at it. They need some kind of in game tutorial you can do right when you start up, if there is one, I'm sorry I must have missed it. I know all of this is my fault but I'm sure this has also steered some other people away.
Besides that, the graphics are quite lacking, they are worse than the original AC and EQ... which is unacceptable for me! I mean I don't care too much about graphics but the terrain is particularly awful. The tanks, planes, and soldiers aren't too shabby but the terrain, especially the trees make me want to puke. I realize they had to make it that way so the game wouldn't lag because the battle fields are so large but still it's just so bad looking, they look like cardboard cutouts.
The other thing that bothered me when I first started playing was the fact that you needed a joystick. It took me a while after installing to figure out why I couldn't steer a tank, I guess I should have read the box a little better Luckily though I had an old joystick laying around.
