I just can't belive they are wasting time, energy, and resources on this idea when there is so much else that needs to be fixed. Most of the "proposed" ideas can be incorporated under Architect. The rest sounds very much like the old BE profession. Some people that replied compared this to SIMMS game.
What ever happened to the 6 month promise to polish the game?
A new set of Gardening and Exterior Design expertises is being considered. These skills would potentially allow a player to purchase and decorate outdoor plots and grow/cultivate various plants. This is a brainstorming concept document. Implementation or scheduling is neither guaranteed nor implied. This is simply a "Request For Comments".
Players would be able to purchase deeds for outdoor plots/greenhouses. These plots would cost lots to place. Once an outdoor plot is created it might be decorated with player craftable outdoor garden decorations.
In addition to decorations, a Gardening system for these outdoor plots is being considered. Gardeners would be able to collect various common and rare plant seeds which might then be cultivated into actual living plants that require food and water to be maintained. Plants might also catch various illnesses, including microbiological infestations and predatory invasions (Lokian bark mites are infesting my Kengrel plants again! I need a Bio engineer to make me some pesticides!).
Plants can be cross pollinated with each other to create new species of plants that cant be attained through normal seeds. Players can then make and share clones or clippings of live plants which can then be incubated to make more instances of that plant.
Some plants have actual harvestable products which can then be used in the manufacture of buff and healing items for players or pets or even poisons of some kind. Other plants are for decorative purposes only.
Plants can be kept in indoor flower pots until they get too big. At this point they must be transplanted into outdoor plots or greenhouses. Outdoor plots (not greenhouses), might be affected by weather events. Plants kept in outdoor plots, however, would have naturally better resources due to exposure to fresh air and natural sunlight. Entire farms could be built and maintained.

Not likely ... 12 months ago the NGE hadn't been released yet. Within 2 months post release, There was a drop in people logging on to play. $OE asked ... no .... they begged for 6 months to polish the game. Well 6 months has come and gone one week short of twice and the game is STILL far from polished.
Personally I don't believe that they will implement these ideas (including Beast Mastery). I think these are just another gimick to keep people from leaving. To make it look like they are planning stuff for the future.
If they were REALLY concerned about the future they would fix what is broke and polish the game like promised ... oh yeah ... can smugglers smuggle yet?

Its all just smoke and mirrors to distract from the NGE 1 year anniversary. SOE needs to give people something to talk about, besides how much the game still sucks after the last 12 months of development.

Well I think I'm still in a state of disbelief here. Gardening?!?!?
I have enough problems having to look after a garden at home without wanting to do it online. I realise there may be some people out there who find this interesting and like the idea that plants can be used in crafting items but sheesh, yet another things for crafters to wait for until they have something meaningful to do ingame.
Rather than fixing the game they just keep throwing out talking points to distract from the lack of direction and progress ingame. I think they realised they were running out of things to keep people from cancelling so they thought, "why not bring up 3 vague topics on the forums in the hope that the game will stop bleeding subs?"

It appears you aren't quite accurate again. Below are recent topics being discussed in the Smuggler forum. Seems like the "new smuggling system" is nothing more than quests. when you are done the quests there is nothing left to smuggle. Lest maybe you can redo some of the quests????

People are still screaming about broken stuff ... and it isnt getting fixed. Just more BS from $OE to try to stop the flow of people leaving.

Flora harvesters are basically hydroponic gardening, you add power and they produce organics. This is an absurd idea.
More decorative features for houses ... hey great, why not, although it couldn't possibly be as high a priority as regular and useful new housing schematics for architects to profit from.

This sounds like a very fun idea if it were being added about 2 years ago. I was a Bio-engineer and this would have been a great addon to that profession. In the context of todays version of SWG all I can say is...

Of course the pessimistic OP neglected to point out the "Invasion Raids" idea also posted as a triplicate of ideas. In that thread, a proposed Mon Cal Cruiser would be the basis for adding larger group content.
Then again, adding this point to your thread would spoil a perfectly good rant.

IF you engaged your brain before speaking maybe you would have noticed this wasn't about the Mon Cals or Beast Mastery or Raids. It was about Gardening and so called Exterior Design being Starwarsy and Iconic. It was also about them supposedly "brainstorming" on new ideas before fixing what they got.

This means lets get our minds off the one year NGE anniversary for a moment and lets talk about stuff that we have no intention of implementing...... even if preNGE had something very similar.
