So, I just got EVE online and I went to play it the first day. The server status appears as (server down) and I know that it is up because I have a friend playing at that time and its not during the scheduled down time. I searched the knowledge base on the EVE site and it came up that that happens with D-Link routers, which I am NOT using. So, I'm asking you.. Have you ever had this problem, and how did you solve it?

Much thanks.

If you have a firewall then you may need to open up a port, this is from the EVE Website:

If you are connecting from behind a corporate or personal firewall, you will need to enter the server's IP address into your firewall configuration, which is 87.237.38.200 port 26000 when using TCP/IP, and UDP port 26001 when using Direct Play.

Try running a tracert on eve's server (87.237.38.200)

Go to Run in the start menu, type in "cmd". Once the command console comes up, type in "tracert 87.237.38.200". It should complete after a few seconds, hopefully without any errors.

If you want to save the tracert report, just follow these commands:

-Open the command console by doing Run, "cmd".
    -Type in "cd Desktop"
    -Type in "tracert 87.237.38.200 > myTracert.txt".

The screen won't show what's going on because it is putting the output in a file instead of the screen. Just wait a few seconds and the command prompt will come back. Then you can type "exit" or just close the window.

Your saved output should be on your desktop in a file called "myTracert.txt". If you end up having to contact CCP's customer support to get your client working, sending them that file should help them fix your problem.

    Good Luck!

It's also possible to have some clusters down while others are up - hell, a few weeks back someone was reporting that they couldn't log in (server showing as Unknown) and someone else in their house *could*. Those are the vagaries of the IntaRw3b ;)

Don't panic - if the above suggestions don't work, you may find you can log on just fine after a little bit.

    And good luck! image
