Lol... If the programmers/developers don't have a job to live on then they got to make their money some how... Might as well kill 2 birds with one stone and make money while working on the project you enjoy.

Most of us here are comfortable about paying to play.

So doubt many will really care here if you don't want to pay.

However, there is a sticky post for those that want free mmorpgs to play.I suggest you look into the list and pick one.

That was the plan all along with Savage Eden. What I hate is that they advertised it as 'free play', when it was Open Beta. During the first few days, they attracted customers on the basis that the game was free to play, without telling them the real truth.

    Currently playing:
    * City of Heroes: Deggial, Assault Rifle/Devices Blaster. Server: Defiant.
    * City of Villains: Snakeroot, Plant/Thorns Dominator. Server: Defiant.

hercules is right here, although I'm now one of those people that do care if I pay for a game. I've been paying aroud 12 bucks for EQ and some other games and have realized it was a total waste of my money and time. Been paying that much for nearly 4 years now. Thats about 600 bucks, 600 big ones! just to play some stupid games. sooo much more out there than just...computer games. Quiting games that require a game fee. if ya ask me, those sorts of games will be addictive for awhile (maybe even 4 yearsimage), but in the end it was just a waste of your time and money. now Guildwars....now thats a game! *No Monthly Fee*

Well, 600 dollars over 4 years, isn't alot of money. Imagine what things you would have done, in that time you played EQ, if you didn't play it. My guess would be, going to the movies, renting movies, hanging out with friends, going to parties, that sort of things. And I don't think you would have been able to do all those things for lousy 600 dollars over a 4 year periode, so when you think about it, MMORPGS give you the best amount of entertainment hours per payed dollar.

One last thing, this is a post about getting the best value for your money, not about what being best, playing MMORPG's or doing things with friends or family or reading a book.

Ya, I guess watching TV and movies, going out drinking, dancing, hanging out with friends, skiing, concerts, road trips, eating, breathing and sleeping are all just a waste of time too.  Because in the end, you could have just stayed home and sat there doing nothing, and after four years you would have six hundred big ones saved up that you could spend on...a chair?
