Using the 30 free days without a time card

If I buy the game can I use the 30 days free without adding a time card? I would prefer to only buy the card at the end of the 30 days. According to the FAQ's, I think they only give you the free month once you put in the first card. I just wanted to be sure I read that correctly.

    If you buy a game/cd-key you get 30 free days with it.

    But still you need a Credit Card or a Time card. But you will be charged after your first 30 days free time perioud.
