Hello there,
PLease help me, im thinkin about joining this game, but sure if, ill be making the right move.
I have read alot of the post's in here, some good and some bad. I havent really played these sort of games before, so will i be able to pick the game up quickly?
I know it takes time for my caracter to learn his stats and to be able to equip alot of the stuff in the game, which is expected of any game. But will i be able to fly about wivout gettin killed, even if i dont attack anyone. I dont want to play a game where as im a newbie, i get killed every 5mins.
So if you guys could give me your views please, and reasons why i should come join eve, i would be very greatful. Also hopefully it will make me mind up, weather it is really worth giving it ago.
Thanks zstorm

Best bet is to try the free 14-day trial...
Reasons to play EVE?
- some of the best PvP anywhere (that adrenaline rush is amazing!)
- it's a 'sandbox' where YOU decide what you want to do
- player-driven economy and territory
- a (mostly) helpful and mature community
- enough depth and complexity to keep you going for years without doing everything the game has to offer
- free expansions every year
- no levels or level grinding
- no 'end game'
- you can effectively take part with vet players in a very short space of time AND be useful
- innovative skill system
- a game that actively rewards 'thinking out of the box' and initiative
- need I go on?
One word of warning: the tutorial is very slow and it is NOT a true indicator of what the game is about
The above posted summed up the security pretty well. But, once you learn the game a little bit and can fly some stuff you can start getting your feet wet in 0.4 security, because the lower the security the higher the profits. The grind in this game is money. Your skills train on real world time, which is ok since you don't need uber skills to be uber. In about 4 or 5 months you will be able to PVP with the best of them, if that. If you worked hard at it, you could be PVPing in less than a month.
My suggestion is to get the free trial, do ALOT of research on the game and figure out what you want to do. Get a program called EVEMon and make a 3 month plan of what you need to get to do what you want to do. Big ships aren't nessarily better.
Link to EVE Mon
With EVEMon you can also figure out if training a Learning skill will make your overall train faster, so you don't spend unessisary time training learning skills.
EVE is very complex, that's why the players we the players love it.
A Work in Progress.
Add Me
I played Eve back in the very early origional beta years ago, but went back and tried the 14 day trial recently.
Everything takes a very long time, while skills are learnt over time and not by grinding experience it actually takes longer overall (when compared to e.g. WoW's leveling), so don't be fooled by this. Ontop of lots of waiting you will have to still grind for money anyway.
Basicly, most of the time you will find yourself waiting for something (either flying/jumping, or mining, a skill, etc.), thats what 90% of the game is :P
It's a game I really want to like, but I just can't bring myself to
If your always waiting on something then your not really playing the game. Your trying to play it like its a powergaming excercise. Get involved in the politics, alliances, wars and most importantly with the players. As that is what is important in Eve online not your attributes or skills.
I know Wow style games are all about powergaming so you can be excused for playing MMPORPG in that style.

just test the offer of 14 days of trial with the game here::)
Your over 20 years old I gather so you will just be fine.
Guides & Trials for EvE Online:
you dont understand the game at all it's not about reaching some "top" level in eve and it's not about round the game up in the shortes amount of time either.
Its a mmmorpg its all about community & roleplaying interact with other players
no one sit and say I got more skills then you in eve online (LOL) that you can hear in for example WoW or Dark Age of Camelot I got more levels then you Im Uber
Guides & Trials for EvE Online:
its not very smart asking other people for reviews i myself got question by someone on another thread about this exact thingof course on a different game.
but what the hey!.
you can play 4 different races, they all have different ship types, you can make an avatar you can change the face and what they look like (as with most games you have a certain face and you can edit things but it dont matter really), you can choose 3 different attibutes to your character, you also get to choose what your character is like, eg science, military. once you done this your choise to explore upto and i think around 5000 systems.
you start at a no pvp zone at one of the school bases orbiting a planet, you can choose missions, harvest, trade, become a traitor, smuggler, explorer, i think you can even go planet or star hugging , you may also become an agent, or even help others.
the system works like this in the top corner of your screen you will see the system name and a friendliness point, from 1.0 - 0.0. 1.0 = very friendly system. to 0.0 = enemy space where is are alot of pirates running around with thier cartel. 0.0 also means pvp is allowed and thier might be systems you will have to go through in order to reach a certain target.
there is an email system to work around, as well as mission list and galaxy map. also the game has a fluctuating economy (basically put you look at something you wanted to buy say on saturday but dont have the money, you come back on monday and find out its 20k cheaper). thier is also as you know a upgrade system for your person.
thier is also a tutorial to help you along with most stuff, if your not american it will take some time to get it down(no offense).
also there also corperations you can join.
the bad points. - this is the bad side no one pubishes.
you can get really bored in space if your trading reason is simple there is a auto pilot function you can use it will take you there vice versa, so your sat there half a-sleep.
when harvesting you goto certain areas and mine a rock (you will need patience for this and i mean patience) it takes a while to harvest and then take it back to either refine or sell, this becomes tedious and boring.
the community is poor, most of the time some person talks and its usually about general house maintance or something like that - dull.
there are too many functions in the game and can become very complex, so you wish to get bored out of your mind trying to figure the buttons then you can do that.
the upgrade system works in real life hours, say you wanted minmarar frigate VI, about 2-3 days. so your stuck there waiting for that to be complete, also you can upgrade one at a time.
i think thats most of the major points covered.
