When to leave the starting area? Plus another ? ....

When is a good time to leave the starting area? I made a Mesmer/Elementalist last night and got her up to lvl 8. My quest log is empty and I believe I've done all the quest. (that I could find). So I'm wondering, what level is a good level to leave this area for the .... what's it called..... burning something???

What level are the quest / animals around there?

Another question I have is about Ranger. I made a ranger a few days ago and got my first animal which was a lvl 5 when I was lvl 4. I'm wondering, if I turn this pet in and train a new pet, will the lvl of the new pet be the same lvl it is, or will it go up? Meaning, If I'm lvl 6, and I train a lvl 3 animal, will it stay lvl 3 once trained of will it go up automatically?

Thanks

You have to train you pets up.

In prophocies the game progresses along at a fairly slow pace.  I would say you'd be ok leaving at lvl 8 though you should be able to stay around awhile longer.  In factions as soon as you leave the starter area you'll be placed vs lvl 20 enemies so you'd like to stay there longer.

For the Prophecies "tutorial", it's common to leave around level 7. And don't miss the Catacombs ;)

In Prophecies you can leave right after you get all the free skills you want, lvl 3.
All the mobs outside post searing Ascalon are lvl 3+, very low lvl.

And pets gain lvls just like you, except they get exp while they are dead too. But thats only at a certain range like agro circle.

  • Leave whenever you want its not a big deal, as long as you feel comfortable that you can handle yourself.

Don't leave too soon, because the pre-searing is so pretty image  I miss it.
