Ok, I have no clue how to look at this game. People have stated many things to try to explain the game, but it does not really give me a good idea on how to look at it. Therefore, I will ask this... What mmorpg could you compare this game to?
It's a korean grinder, same principals as described above. You can pick up a copy of the game for like £5 which gives a month free trial if your really interested get a copy an try it out.

Game is one of the worst mmorpgs i have seen and played in a long time.
i have played rf online since launch.... and currently have even more than 1 account active
im in one of the so called "dead" servers due to the population but this game has potential
i am a level 47 Accretian warrior i also have many alts but that is my main char...
i will list u some pros and cons of this game
Pros
real fun GROUP pvp (this game is not made for 1v1 pvp.. it is about teamwork and usage of ur calss skills)
CW (even with little numbers of 20-50 per faction in dead servers pvp is fun and worht going to CW)
Dead servers consist of Earth, Water, and Wind.. Fire and Spirit have a high population and it is really fun to play with
Server merge will bring all servers into 1
i have never seen a community in an mmo more close together
events (some are nice pvp events where you would have to protect gm)
Battle Dungeons (diffferent levels have different battle dungeons)
Guild vs Guild (eventough its corrupt atm)
This game is really class specific....
pt system and class specific skills are very interesting depending on combination you choose
graphics
Future potential of this game (in korea they have the most update version of the game and it is REALLY fun, lots of content)
did i mention REALLY FUN PVP!!
Cons
if you die to a mob u lose exp.. sometimes hours of gridn will be lost in 1 death
Long grind.. VERY LONG GRIND
Population (spirit and fire dont have that problem but other serves do)
many people will see this games as lack of content
Not much to do besides leveling and pvp
Gear is really important in teh game
not smart to pvp until lvl 40+
many bugs in game like
battle dungeon errors
Combining items error
mobs despawning issue
gvg sometimes bugged and does not work
almost impossible to 1v1 pvp someone their own level while facing some1 a few more levels lower can e easy
leveling areas are also in pvp areas (i dunno if that is good or bad)
waiting on many many intersting new patches that are to come
basically after all these that i mentioned.. the future of this game is still undetermined... your best bet is to wait till server merge and then see if the game then is good or not..
it is a good idea to have a high level char in order to prepare for server merge where fun pvp comes
in my opinion it is worht playing and i will continue to play it... there are flaws but seriously this game has been out for less than 1 year and already has gone through 2 major patches to further improve gameplay. the pvp is really fun and which mmo doesnt have flaws.. WoW, GW all had bugs.. all i can say is... this game will only get better
check out the content in korean site and you will be amazed...
this game is a race.. if the new content will be out before the game is dead.

I think your right here. People bash this game becasue it has issues, lack of people etc. Not just MMO's are going to have problems look at the PS3 it had lots of issues before launch. (thats a little off topic but what i'm saying is that there will be issues not just MMO's and other games. Thats why they have patches, fixes, updates what have you)
everything will have problems! Programing is not an easy task. Can you expect a game that is not even a year old to be the best thats out there? Did you look at WoW and expect it to be the most flawless MMORPG because it came from the states and its made by a big time developer?
So now you look at RF and it's like 'well this game has lots of errors, it sucks0rz, I can't stand it anymore. I quit!' Lack of population, right? I'd say look and see what future updates brings. (Allthough i'm not quite happy with the server merge myself...) I don't know about you guys but at least im looking foward to Ep.2 (I think there is going to be one. It's in korea allready I think?)
If you get into the game, pay for it, then jump then gun and say it sucks then thats your problem. Share your thoughts about this game and give it some feedback: negitive or positive. Just don't bash it becasue you got into the game and you paid for it and pointed out evey single stinking issue you came accross. We just want an opinion of it.
Just to get back to the point though: you can't have things that are perfect and have the best game ever. Why do people want a game that has little or no errors? I'd think that they would just accept that the fact that games will have issues. Maybe its not best for the game and it's a turn off for some but its going to happen weather it's bad programing or possibly the devs fault it could be anything or everything, people. Ya just got to give things a chance and see if it's for the best or not.

Potion spamming is compulsory for everyone in RF online.
Faction pvp in RF online (open pvp in L2).
No sieges or politics in RF online.
