As for Blink 182 being punk... Shame on you! -_- And then stating Adam's Song as a punk song as well... Some of the early stuff was punky to an extent... But Adam's Song is alternative/emo. Jeez.
Not that there's anything wrong with emo - I love emo, and Adam's Song is one of my favourite songs... But it's SO far from punk it makes my mohawk shiver...
TY! A Refused fan... God it's been like years since I've met anyone who likes their stuff... 'Refused are Fucking Dead' is a better song though imho - the riff is SO addictive...

It's just a stretch for me to like any type of punk music, that's all.
Oh, and great list Thrakk, though I've never heard of your favorite post-rock band, and that's my favorite genre of music. I'll go buy their CD on torrentspy.
It's the best metal if you've never listened to metal before.
Disturbed has the best lyrics of any metal band, by far...while other Metal bands are talking about nothing but how much everything sucks, Disturbed talks about something other than anger, and I like that about them. Oh and let's not forget that Dave Draiman has a unique voice that you can actually understand, unlike most crappy metal bands like SlipKnot.
I'm not trying to make you like Disturbed, I'm trying to understand how you can be a metal fan, but not at least LIKE disturbed, even if you don't love them.
Your argument is like a two legged dog with an eating disorder...weak and unbalanced.
Metalheads are weird. They are one of the few types of music fans that get so fiercely loyal about their music. That's really what I don't understand about them...music's purpose is to entertain its target audience, but if someone likes someone like, say, Disturbed, metalheads take great offense. They forget that it is all a subjective opinion, and all the musical theory in the world doesn't change that fact.
Do Disturbed songs have less musical theory application then some other metal bands? Yes. Does that mean they are "worse" in some way? No.
Personally I love post-rock, and if someone picked my least favorite post-rock band to listen to, I'd still be psyched that they are at least getting a taste of the genre. Metalheads are the most pretentious music listeners I've ever seen, and their elitism turns me off on the genre as a whole.
Metal may have some deep roots in musical theory and composition, but it is no more complex then many, many other genres out there. Get over yourselves, people.

(defensive tackle for me...it's hard to play that position calm)

The next post of yours, you tell modjoe he was wrong and classical listeners are. Yet there you are slamming a band you don't like. modjoe hit the nail on the head. I was a metalhead for most of my life and I was the same way. But thankfully metal has put out pure trash in the last 5 years or so. Now I rarely listen to the stuff. I feel sorry for them now. There is so much good music out there.
Disturbed are kind of ok. But I dislike them more than I like. Draiman kind of irritates me with trying to emulate a jack-hammer when he sings. I went to one of their concerts and they sounded decent live. But Draiman only pissed me off even further when he opened his mouth to talk. He went on some stupid rant about "the symbol they use having the symbols to all religions in there. everybody should put aside their differences and come together, except for that satanist shit. That's not real." Statements like that win moron of the decade from me. Satanism is every bit as real as any other religion.

Metal has so many different genres that some are completely different from others... thats why metal heads take so much offence. I listen to alot of death metal and power metal and it sounds almost completely different from Disturbured or other bands like them, but they are both in the metal genre. Sometimes I may get a little defensive but I try not to because I know theres alot of personal preferences involved and you cant hate someone for what they like because well thats what they prefer. The only thing that really gets me is when people wana rat on metal and say its just a bunch of noise and no talent because they dont know whats going on... thats the only time Ill jump on anyone about that.

You're religeous, so I doubt you've listened to any more metal than that plays on MTV. Disturbed is pussy metal, it's weak and pointless.

The local catholic priest knows more metal bands than I'd care to have dollars. Religion doesn't mean shit about what music you listen to...
As for Disturbed being pussy metal... I'm not a metal head, and i'm not doing the usual 'standing up for my bands while spitting on yours' thing, but I have to argue because you insult the music, rather than the band. Pussy metal doesn't exist. Pussy metal is hard rock, or rock, and it's perfectly valid in those genres. Calling it 'weak' is stupid without suggesting how it's weak, so I'm not even gonna bother with a retort there... 'Pointless' is what got me. I'd say it's got more purpose to it than the vast majority of metal bands, singing about dragons and warriors. Disturbed songs are almost all highly political, and that makes them more purposeful than most genres, because they actually seek to influence something... I'd love you to explain how they're pointless though, coz I can't really see what the hell you think you're talking about ^^
*In saying about the dragons and warriors thing, that doesn't make that music any less worthwhile (and I happen to love a load of bands that put out music just like that), it just makes it less purposeful and more recreational.
TY! A Refused fan... God it's been like years since I've met anyone who likes their stuff... 'Refused are Fucking Dead' is a better song though imho - the riff is SO addictive...
yeah, that's a nice song as well
I picked new noise though cause it has been the first song I ever heard from Refused
