Sounds like you're not happy with any mmo you play. Personally I bought EQ2 when it came out and HATED it. Absolutely hated it. I bought EoF however and I'm loving it. Its my new main mmo. And I can understand what you're saying about Vanguard because I've played it as much as you have, but give it time. They're taking their time to work on it and it shows promise that it still become a great game. But seriously, try EoF.

As i am/was a big fan of the eq2 game and the wow game as well these threads, and this type of talk, and the amount of absolute bs that the people in both said games cause drama, has made me hang up my coat on eq2 and wow, i cant handle the constant bickering and childish behavior that has engulfed both these games lately, eq2 wasnt bad like that when i started, it is still an extremly good game but i would like to add the community of wow, and the community of eq2 has made me loath any type of dungeon humping, cock measuring, gear looting games and i dont see it any different with upcoming fantasy mmo's , so farewell wow, and farewell eq2 i miss all my old gamer friends whom have moved on for the same reasons, please for gods sakes someone make a fantasy mmo with mature content or superbly hard with a large learning curve as this type of stuff draws the mature crowd i liked in eq2 AT THE BEGGINING, I hang my hat and wish you all the best of luck may the community mature, but i dont see it happening, i may hang my hat in myst uru, that seems like an adult game me and my wife can play and enjoy together as well as have a community to play with and help eachother in , not play against and backstab when the chance is right. if you visually dont like EQ2 , then you will hate Vangard , vangard promise fantastic gameplay with loads of new stuff, but visually its outdated and agly..low poly models, with low resolution, texturing is terible and animation much worse then EQ2

Look, if Vanguard offers me a quest beside the shallow "kill 10 snakes, 10 beetles, and 10 lizards" or "Fedex" type quests, a quest with gameplay experience depth where I actually have to think and am held spellbound on the edge of my seat with suspense, than I am not really concerned about graphics and animation. Some of the best games I have ever played come from the "classical" DOS period of computer games, and definately have obsolete graphics. And if I could play Ultima, Empire, Colonization, and Temple of Apshai again, I would. I still remember these games because of the gameplay, it was fun and challenging at the same time. The reward for a MMORPG should first be the gameplay experience, it should be well thought out, challengining, and thought provoking. Too many games today have slicked back graphics requiring uber cards, but the gameplay experience targets a juvenile audience. This crap of "whoever reaches the level cap first wins", or "check out my armor of ultimate timesink", or "look at me, I've killed 50,000 goblins", is not the type of game I'm looking for. I want a game where I can sit back and say that I beat that little challenge with skill, I figured it out. Not a game where I can sit behind my computer, eat a meal, talk on the phone, and balance my checkbook, while every so often hitting an icon. And yes, I've done that playing EQ 2. Sometimes, in the middle of combat, I even get up and go to the bathroom as my character stands there hitting a beastie with a sword. And you know what, it doesn't matter if I'm at the keyboard or not. That is not the gameplay experience I am looking for.

THANK YOU. Quests in MMORPGS especially come in only these variations: Kill X number of creatures or deliver an item or items. I am so sick and tired of this Devs seem to have no imagination. But you know what, why would they care its this is the kind of dull, repetitve gameplay people keep buying. The majority of people do not expect or demand more, just the same old rehashed crap. Maybe Vanguard will prove me wrong with their Diplomacy system, I dunno, but if the game ends up largely being Kill x number of creatures all over again I'm going to be extremely disappointed and I'll wonder why I keep bothering with MMORPGs. I want variation, I don't want blatantly obvious timesinks where I need to kill 500 goblins. That is friggin boring.

I totally agree. I won't let cheap hype get to me again like Oblivion and EQ2 did. They always promise but never deliver. A change to that typical behavior would be refreshing, but not getting my hopes up.
