When DAoC came out, I was neck deep in AC and did not see a reason to leave it. Now, I've played through 2 years
of WoW (more than one being beta) and never participated in any battleground fights. My question is, will the RvR
content be presented in this way, a large instance where teams gang up on each other for some ambigous goal or
flag or will it be like Terran Mills was in the beginning and just be a persistent battleground where ever anyone
happens to be?
I've read as much as I can when I can about this game, but I can't determine if in each zone there is a designated
area for realm combat or not, or whether or not they've even figured that one out yet. Can anyone offer any insight
on this or personal experience with either persistent or instanced pvp?

With the Scenarios, you won't be waiting for more players to join. If you don't have enough people to match the other side, it's evened out with NPC Dogs of War.

I live to fight, and fight to live.
It won't be like Terran Mill, that's for sure. That was nothing but chaos with no real objective. Sure you could destroy your opponents, then move on to kill the guards and the NPCs in the town, but then what? And what do you gain by doing so?
There will be four types of RvR in WAR; Skirmishes, Battlefields, Scenarios and the Campaign. Here's a rundown of each.
Skirmishes are encounters in which anyone will be able to participate. Each faction can fight the opposite faction in pvp zones which are represented by the red part of any map.
Battlefields are various objectives inside PvP zones. It is a bit of a misnomer, as it refers directly to the objective in question or possibly the immediate area around it.
A battlefield could be a small tower, a farmhouse, a mine entrance or some other strategically important location in a PvP zone. Each realm will be able to attack and possibly conquer this battlefield. Doing so will offer some kind of reward for players nearby or in the entire zone. Rewards could include renown bonuses, XP bonuses, access to special NPC's or other things.
Scenarios are WAR's instanced RvR challenges, pitting groups from the two realms against each other in fast-paced action type struggles. Any number of instances of the same scenario (with different players in them) can run at the same time. Winning scenarios contributes victory points to your realm.
Scenario instances are entered through an entrance in a regular skirmish zone. Inside, you (and your group, if you are in one) are taken to a lobby where you are paired with friends and enemies for a balanced fight. Each scenario will have different objectives that your team will try to accomplish before the enemy does. You will be able to see those objectives and other information in the scenario lobby. Scenarios last on average 30 to 40 minutes, some much less.
Scenarios will vary in size, some being just one group versus one group, others being as large as 4 groups versus 4 groups. It is planned to have NPC characters, the Dogs of War, available for evening out imbalances in number between the two realms.
The objective of Campaigns are to take over the cities and land of the opposite realm.
The overall campaign consists of control of the various zones in each of the three army pairings. As one realm or the other gets the upper hand (by earning more victory points than the opposing realm in that zone) in various zones, the zones come under their control. Once all the zones in a set is under the control of one realm, it becomes possible for that realm to attack the other realms capital city in that set.
Example: if all zones in the Dwarf/Greenskin army pairing area falls under greenskin control, it becomes possible for the forces of Destruction to attack the Dwarf capital city. The forces of Order will be defending. Conversely, if all the lands between the Empire and the Chaos hordes fall under imperial control, it will be possible for the forces of Order to attack the capital city of Chaos.
Attacking a capital city will open up a new range of scenarios inside that city, detailing the attacks on the stronghold. If the attacking forces are still able to get the upper hand, they will be able to (temporarily) conquer and ransack most of the enemy capital. Burning, looting and special NPC encounters are sure to follow.

weeks, I want to see more from the Empire and High Elves!
Well it seems they're doing the order and chaos pairs together(Ie: Dwarfs/Orcs, Empire/Chaos). Empire/Chaos are next up on the list(I remember a Dev or Mod saying it), and then once all the Dwarf/Orc, Emp/Chaos info we can possibly handle is release.
Most of the Dwarf/Orc stuff is done, though there might be a few zones left to inform about. The first info on Chaos/Empire classes is supposed to come out with this week's heavily delayed news letter. They usually throw in random sceenshots and concept art with the newsletter too.
I doubt that's this months, unless they're changing things up. They seem to like to keep us in suspense like most other devs do :P It'll probably detials about the Priest of Sigmar and one or two Chaos Class detials.
I notice most newsletters are usually mailed out in the 20-25th of each month, right on schedule in my book.
