Again Scaramoosh proves he doesn't know the definition of the word "gimmick" I can't be bothered to look it up for you again.
The Wii should be great. Some of the games have been getting really great reviews. It's not out in Europe yet, so unlike Scaramoosh, I can't really voice a definitive opinion of it while making it sound like the objective fact of the universe in same manner scaramoosh does.
the wii is good. my favorite/only game is zelda. wii-sports is good for console noobs and maybe a short time killer, but i wouldn't consider it a stand-alone game.
the controllers aren't a gimmicks. i actually think they're better than normal controllers, but i'm sure that will come down to personal preference. whoever flames the wii is obiviously an x360/ps3 fanboi and hasn't played the wii past the learning curve (<1 hour in zelda).
you don't have to do those huge sweeping motions like you see in tv, but really just little flicks of the wrist do it. since you do about equally as much with both hands, it makes for a different gaming experience. i also think the wiimote makes it easier to aim my slingshot/bow/ect...
if you can afford one, get it. you won't regret it. if you are afraid of the graphics sucking, don't be. it's no ps3, but it went above and beyond my expectations.

How comfortable is the controller/nunchuck to hold? The second reason for me not going for a ps3 was their decision to go with the crap dualshock controller, the boomerang looked like it could have been easier to hold.
I'm 22 and my friends and I played it for like 6 hours last night. Wii owns.
Serious death penalties makes every close call an adrenaline rush, and every minor achievement a major victory. This alternative rule-set should be in all MMORPGs.

it's actually really comfortable. it feels suprisingly solid compared to what i was expecting. although, i'm not going to go all out wii-fanboi on you and tell you that it's perfect. the -/+ buttons (by the home button, which is a pretty cool feature) are a little hard to reach, but they're only used for various menues so it's not like you need to press them in a hurry or something. the vibration from the wii-mote is really solid, but i wish the nunchuck also vibrated.. maybe. an option would be nice.
overall i think the controls are easily layed out. since there are so many different directions you can move the wii-mote/nunchuck, it really eliminates the need for a lot of buttons. most of the actions involve moving the controllers, the big triggers on either of the controllers, or the huge A button on the wii-mote.
Got mine yesterday with Super Monkeyball, Call of Duty 3, and Red Steel. Zelda is coming on Tuesday (damnit).
Controller: Anyways I must say the system is just plain fun. FPS's have a whole new realm of playability, which admitably, some people won't like. I however, love the interactivity of it. FPS's on consoles have always been a drag for me. Slow turning, and usually required an auto-lock, bleh. Boring...simply boring. With the new wiimotes however, aiming and turning are fast. It DOES require getting used to though. My first hour in Red Steel was a little haphazard simply because I was forgetting that I was supposed to actually aim. It also brings a whole new sense of fun to Monkeyball. The GC version was fun, but to me it was always lacking something. This something was the controller.
Graphics: Despite what people say, and through the screenshots they supply, the graphics (to me anyways) are really fresh. Obviously its not going to be a stong as the other systems, but when I was running through France in CoD3, it all looked stunning. So much action was happening, and not one slowdown, lag, or buggy glitch that I noticed. Although I won't put it beyond somebody to disect each scene piece by piece to find one. All 4 of my games look really good, even Wii Sports I thought looked really well. It obviously had toned down graphics but it ws still crisp.
Games:
Call of Duty 3: CoD3 is a really really fun game. I have played the other games on a few systems in the past, but they were always kind of boring. Never was much into the WW2 thing. CoD3 though, like I said up-top gives it a whole new energy with this controller. The graphics look clean, and the on screen action is fast, fun, and energetic.
Red Steel:Everybody always seemed conflicted about this game. Some people absolutely loved it, and some people just wouldnt even give it the time of day. However its probably one of the best FPS games out there. The graphics are a bit on the downside but nowhere near as bad as some people make them out to be. The controlability, however, is unmatched. If you have a grenade you can either roll it, toss it, or throw it. This all depends on how you use your left arm. Make a rolling motion to roll it gently into the room, if you want to chuck it then let loose with all your strength. The speed of your throw determines a lot. Gun play is fast and fun. Nothing better than standing up in the middle of a firefight, gently twisting your hand to the left and blowing your enemies away "gangsta" style.
Super Monkey Ball: Who doesn't like monkeys in a ball? Well the Wii makes it that much more fun than its GC counterparts. In order to move the monkey around you have to tilt and controller up down left right side to side. Its fun, fast, and sometimes frantic. The graphics looks good, that being said however, how good can you make cartoon monkeys look? I love the game and plan on playing it in a few minutes.
Wii Sports: This game is GREAT. However, you have to have somebody to play with or you arent going to have to much fun. I spent a few hours playing it with my girlfriend last night and yes, I kicked her ass at boxing. The games are fluid and inventive in the control schemes. The only game on the list in Wii Sports that feels a little wanting is baseball. Its all computer, and mathematically perdetermined if you make it to the first base, based on how far you hit the ball. You don't control the base running at all.
I will be getting Zelda on Tuesday, and I can't wait. The reviews were stunning. The Wii is no gimmick, its the new system of playing. It is an FPS lovers dream, imo.

Yes. Aim and fire.

Controller- The controller is the basis for teh Wii, and they did a damn well good job on it too. Despite what I thought before I had one the controller is amazingly comfortable. Its way more comfortable than a PS2 controller. Its precise and really fun to use. You can get up and go all out with movements or you can simply lay on a couch and play. some of the buttons are a bit hard to reach, but they dont use those buttons unless your in a menu or something where it does not cause a problem.
Gameplay- I can honestly say "other than Gears of War, this is the most fun i have ever had on a console, or computer game." It is amazing. You get so into it. It brings upon a new feeling that nothing can compete with. This console is best when playing with a bunch of people. Me and 5 other people came to my house at 6 p.m. and played until 2 p.m. the next day. (we did go to sleep for a bit though)
Games:
Zelda- absolutely stunning! this game is better than the original Ocarina of Time. Its great, I am on teh third temple now and am still amazed. Its so much fun. This is a game you play with 1 or 2 people though, although that probably goes without saying seeing as its a 1-player game.
Out of 10
Graphics- 9.5/10 amazing graphics from what I was expecting
Gameplay- 10/10 gives teh same feeling as Ocarina of Time
Controls- 95/10 Setup great
Story- 9.5/10 at first a bit hard to follow, but its a great story
Madden 07- Awesome game, especially for multi-player.
Ok, i still have red steel and still ahve to finish Madden, but im too tired to finish. Ill finish later.
