dont feel bad i applied to 4 beta's so far and havent got into any yet.....your best bet is to play a diff game till whatever game your waiting for comes out.

    Hrmm....Well lets not hope post count matters, or murt would win every beta there ever is. Not to mention every spot

    Okay.  First off, if you're going to complain about not winning the beta, it'd be best if you decided to read up on the rules of winning the beta, that would help.
    The way you win most betas is to LOG IN at least ONCE a day until the beta is raffled.

    If these contests favour post counts that would be insane! Just what we need... incentive to spam.

    Lots of people come here and read up on things and decide that they have nothing to add to the forums that haven't been said yet. Much better than a guy like Jaks who irritated the hell out of everyone.

    It sucks if you didn't win but this beta had what? 40 names on the list and 20 winners. Our odds were pretty slim I'd say (not just for this one either). Learn a bit about stats and probability before you go off accusing the admins of  fixing contests.

    I logged in every day since the CoH promo started, and i have been a member on here since 2002 and there aren't many which are that old and i still never won any beta contest.
    I won't ever participate in any anymore.
    Just becouse it's not fair.

    I didn't win the lottery at all after ten weeks. Therefore it's unfair and I won't ever participate in it anymore.

    no luck in game is luck in love, they say (or something like that).

    I just wanna say that people who post a lot should not have more chance because then they will keep having more posts then everyone else and they always win and i think this is the 4th thread were someone says these competitions are a fraud, keep it to one

    You could always sign up on the CoH site to enter beta, and pls stop saying that a lot of people only wanna play the game and not test it. image

    I really think its random, I've won 2 beta contest since I've been here and all random how one gets picked.  Follow the instructions to the contest and take a chance, while I use to post information about games, I got alittle slap where I put my post, so I've stopped putting up information on games.  Weather someone was offended I posted it first I'm not sure, but this site still has great stuff on it and most are friendly.  Just because some don't win certain beta's doesn't mean they won't  win the next.  Please remember, its random on who wins and don't give up, we can't win all those beta contest we enter, geesh wish I could though lol.

    Have faith and one day you'll win one of those beta contest, how hard can it be just to log onto this site in order to win one.

    Well i have just confirmed myself as the 24th person to take on of the 20 places on CoH beta (dont ask how cos i dont knowimage).

    I read the rules and understand them etc, and this is not a complaint, though i do agree that people should only be allowed to win a certain amount of Beta accounts. Succh as once every 3 months or so. This will allow people to actually concentrate on doing a proper test on the games and not just playing which one they like most out of all their accounts.

    It would also be nice if you stopped people getting Beta's if they post things saying that they are only playing it to check the game out or something else which indicated that they will not be very good beta testers.

    (yes i am going to post this as a site suggestion as soon as i find where)

    Yeah i agree, and saying this is a popularity contest that just doesn't make sense.

    I won one and I don't think I am a very popular poster that everyone knows.

         The contest is strictly a random drawing.  If you log in more you get an extra ticket entered into the drawing.  How can a completely random drawing that allows someone who logs in daily, which adds an extra ticket into the drawing, be flawed?  Seems to me, the more you login, the better your chances at winning.  The post count not being taken into account is fantastic in my eyes.  It promotes people to NOT spam the boards like a few here do and make some people not want to post here.

     

    It's sore losers such as yourself that can't see the logic of a good thing, that make msg boards like this a drag to come to sometimes.

     

    To the MMORPG Staff,

     

        Many here believe that your contests are fair and honorable.  Keep up the great work on a good site that caters to a specific genre.  Don't let the cry babies and whiners get to you and dampen all the great work you've all done for us as a community.  I might not post much, but I read daily.

    This is crazy!? This is a FREE contest that the admins put out for us. This is one of the great things about this site and people are going to bash it because they are sore losers? What, you'd rather see the contests end because Johnny didn't get his way? image

    Alphamalebsr you do realize there were 40 spots right? 40! Compared to the number of people that visit this site actively and have wracked up 3+ stars the chances of any of us winning were extremely low. Your chances of winning almost any of these contests are extremely low in fact. Don't forget that this is not just a contest between active posters here but active visitor's. The community is much, much larger than just the guys that seem to post everyday.

    Actually why am I even bothering?

    Okay. Setting this straight once and for all.

    THE CONTEST IS COMPLETELY RANDOM. ALL WINNERS, AT ANY POINT OF SIGN UP HAVE A CHANCE TO WIN!  SINCE THE CONTEST IS RANDOM!  ALL OTHER VARIABLES ARE TO HELP YOU OUT, NOT INSURE A SLOT FOR BETA.

    POSTS:  The amount you post DOES NOT have any relation to your ability to win this beta.  EX: NO POSTS and you can win.

    DATE OF ENTRY:  The earlier you sign up gives you that extra edge, yet again it DOES NOT insure you a slot for beta. Remember, this contest is Random.

    LOGIN:  THIS is what gives the user an "EDGE".  If you log in 5 days out of the week, you get 1 extra raffle ticket thrown into the Raffle machine.  Thus increasing your CHANCES to win the beta.  Yet for the third time, it does not SAVE a spot for you in the beta entry.

    Lose with dignity, these contests are free and random.  If your name so happens not to be on the list, then so be it.  It's the MMORPG.COM lottery.  You can buy 10,000 lottery tickets and still lose.

    Actually I wish I wrote this post instead. This is exactly how I feel, especially the message to the MMORPG staff.

    This same sort of mentality we are seeing here doesn't just make MMORPG forums sometimes a drag to visit but often ruins the games themselves for me. Is is it just me or do these games attract a higher percentage of "sore losers"/"whiners" than any other genre of game I have played? Maybe it's just the "chat"-heavy nature of them that makes me realize it. I know in the Lineage 2 beta for instance I had to hide the chat box because the amount of people whining about things in a FREE beta was ridiculous!

    I dont see anything wrong with the way the contests are held. It gives everyone the same opertunity to win.

    Some people are just not understanding the rules, its pretty simple, log in and have a chance to win.  What better way to have a chance at winning a spot in beta.  Your not spending money like buying a lottery ticket, so enjoy the site, log in and gain some knowledge about alot of different games as well as entering a contest, if you signed up for one.

    Contests on this site couldn't be any easier then just signing in.

    I don't even see a reason to complain...if you loose the lottery you actually loose money. Unless your internet access charges you money for every minute you log on, you don't loose anything by clicking on a link that says "Register to win City of Heroes beta" and logging in once everyday before the contest. If you talk about any sort of bias, that is not the case unless you decide to stop registering for beta contests, that's the only thing that comes close to being bias because then you definately won't win and everyone else has a shot image.

    Have you actually looked at how many memebers are on this site?  35000+ all with a fair equal chance of logging in each day.  You get up to five total votes.  Now lets say 10000 people enter the contest and each of them get the 5 votes.  That still gives you a 1 in 10000 chance of winning.  I would love to see someone like you is Vegas trying to gamble.
