Aww.. And here I thought you had info on how she transfers to Atlantis, and they kill Dr McKay...
Although I think interaction with the series characters could be a good thing, I shudder when i remember how this was done in SWG, and it has the possibility to be just as bad. I mean imagine...
Character creation --> Cut sceen, SG-1 blows open your barracks door " come on kid, the Ori think your special.. we need to get you to the alpha site " Teal'C lay's down cover fire as you tear through the streets, Carter has to rewire the computer to get the dialing sequence to work...
SWTOR. Face it, in the Scooby Doo Mystery Solving Van of coolness, this game is Velma. In this current MMO climate it has about as much chance for survival as a group of inquisitive teenagers in a 1980s slasher flick. -Tardcore May, 2011

Is that a spoiler? That totally ruins it for me. I have nothing left to live for

Hoping of what? Carter staying involved in the Atlantis series, or that that's the type of game being developed?

i think he was hoping of that scene being the opening scene of the game...which i think would be quite impossible because if you have 1000's of people playing that same scene at once...i mean...your diaglogue would be fucked to say the least.

No, this isn't what he was thinking at all.
In the new tutorial for SWG, Han Solo and Chewie bust you off of a station because you're "Special" to the Empire. He was merely making fun of SWG, which I am completely supportive of.
We barely remember who or what came before this precious moment; We are choosing to be here right now -Tool, Parabola
Yes I'm poking fun of the 'new' turorial in SWG ( dunno if it changed, as I have since stop'd my subscription when they did the Restus thingy, but I digress )
To be plain the SWG tutorial was borked as when you enter han solo breaks you out of an imperial jail cell. Dialog is you are important, and the empire want's you so.. then it's off the the falcon where you blast TIE fighters in the escape, and land at a 'secret' base to conduct the tutorial. No matter if your a new entertainer, or crafter, or wish to aid the empire. Just a silly intro with a main character, and linear story, and bang bang, for bang sake.
Now why is that relevent to Star Gate? the premise of that's what gamers want.. So far Major licence movie / storys have failed as MMO's, and the reason is the current trend of MMO's to cater the the desire of make everyone luke skywalker, Frodo, or Neo and have a major impact as a character in the world. Sony Online even said flat out just as the NGE went live "Gamers want to be special, so we are designing a game where every character is, we feel combat is where the player base is, not in an interactive community, who want's to play a farmer, or uncle owen when.... "
Having SG-1 characters overtly involved in a new players early involvement will ( in my opinion ) dumb down the game, similar to how my reference was poking fun of. Imagine you create a Jaffa warrior, to be first prime to your RL friends who all plan a Gu'auld themed guild, and enter in to my above fictional intro...
Advance in standing with the Tauri, and gain access to higher characters to gain info, intel, supplies, missions, is fine. Similar to how you advance in lvl and quality with EVE agents, but don't smash players with a this is kewl, cuz we did it, now off you go.. Watch the show, does the SG-1, or the primary atlantis personnel stop when joe airman is slaughterd? why would they stop for you? Now granted Carter did stop for cadet Hailey, and show'd her if she worked hard what her future could be like, but she didn't stop her primary responsibilities. So having them as the tutorial don't really make sense.
Course the game is still very early in development, so we may be debating over nothing. All in all I hope for a great game to be develop'd, although the choice to return to lvl's over skills does have me a little concerned.

I'd expect every major character to be doing voiceovers in this game. I'd expect SG1 to be the tutorial.
Make a difference!

Nope, I think that's what he was hoping.
