The hype meter polls are a COMPLETE JOKE. They mean absolutely NOTHING and are just padded to hell by little 12 year olds who try to get their favorite game higher on the list.
Remove them and only allow ratings on games that are in public beta or released.

You know what, I agree. There should be no rating of a game before it is released to the public, since it does give a false sense of it's worth when people are voting to raise or lower hype without even knowing how a game is when it hasn't even been played by anyone yet.
Please note that this is not a "rating" of the game. It states on the hype meter that this is a scale for you to show us how excited you are about this game based on what is out there about the game. In other words, on a scale of 1 to 10 how much do you anticipate this game?
I think that is fair enough.

I think the purpose of the meter itself was a good one. However, it does seem that alot of people confuse "hype" with actual "rating" of the game. that was why i agreed that it would be in a games interest to have it removed. But I admit, much of that is due to people abusing it, and only so much can be done to minimize such abuse. Thanks for replying, Admin.
This is also another matter that should be looked at. People signing up just to throw out a couple quick posts and then rate a game, never to be seen again. Perhaps it could be a requirement that they have to be a member for so long before ranking a game, instead of just a minimal post count? For example, they could leave remarks on the hype meter, but not rate the game until they've been here for the appropriate amount of time. This would cut back on the "flood" voting, such as CCP asking all the EVE players to come vote for the awards caregories. We all know that they will have multiple accounts just to do this, as well as people coming over/voting/ and not returning until it's time to vote again. Most new members come here due to contests or other promotions, so let them sign up for those as usual. But the voting/ranking part needs stricter requirements, or it will become as invalid as some already are starting to feel it is.
