Its pay to play, probably the standard $15 a month.

Why woudnt it be P2P. It is a big name MMO that has been in production quite a while. I even consider Guildwars P2P, because if you spend $50 every 6 months, it comes out to be the same as the others. I know they are optional, but if you want to keep up with the lemmings, you must buy them.

Lets say you do buy the new campaigns that come out once every six months. thats $50 over 6 months...
($50)/(6 months) = $8.3 per month
$8.3 is still less than most MMORPGs. That isnt even taking into account all the expansions that most MMORPGs put out. Plus unlike some MMORPGs where you have to buy the expansions because the expansions raise the level cap or give you uber items, ANet has had a pretty strict policy of keeping skills, items, and level even across all campaigns.
In fact, just to make things more accurate, lets add in expansions. Everquest 2 has been out for 25 months now. Over that time, it has released 3 expansions ($40 each) and 3 adventure packs ($8 each). That is:
(3*$40+3*$8)/(25 months) + $15/(1 month)= $20.75 more per month
So where Everquest 2 has cost its followers (those who buy all expansions) $20.75 per month, Guild Wars has cost its followers (those who buy all campaigns) only $8.30 per month.
Of course, this is ridiculous, because EQ2 adds more content to its game per month than GW does, so maybe it all evens out, or at least it becomes extremely subjective once youve added in the factors of customer services and quality of the game. But still, hehe... I forgot what I was ranting about now. Oh well.
I reckon it will be P2P... I rather hope so really.
The world is going to be pretty persistant right? Not a ton of instancing? So it will require servers that can handle large amounts of players engaging in complex actions (combat) at the same time. This alone could warrent a monthly fee.
Out of convenience I'd like it to be f2p, but that is never going to happen in this kind of big release. I'm just curious that why do you always have to have a full price retail box? Why can't the retail+month of time be some 20 or so and then monthly fee. More players would propably take the bait and get hooked .
It is just hard if they don't release gamecards like WoW 'cos it is hard for a student to get a credit card and sometimes they don't even work too well.

You really need to read more. Where do you get that a "major" part of the game will be singleplayer?
yeha i wouldnt mind paying 15$ or even 20$ the first part of the game (to lvl 20) will be single player but that is only to get you into the story with the deep guild sistem and battleforts and player cities....their crafting system..and the many different classes to choose from the content will really end (the guild system and everything that you wil be able to do really bring this game out for me) i would be very suprised if it would be F2P or even less then 15-20$

The first 20 levels are a single player storyline, out of a max level of 80. Higher levels, like in all MMORPGs, take a longer time to achieve than the lower, so its not even the 1/4 straight up math gets you.
Additionally, While the storyline for levels 1-20 and the quests involved theiren are single player, the game itself is not. You can in fact play with others on the startup islands.
So all in all, its an extremely minor portion of the game that can remotely be considered SP. And you don't even have to pay the monthly fees till you hit level 20 for the first time.

P2P really helps games not only for the dev's to keep updating and shtuff... but it keeps away a lot of UNWANTED players who's mommy and daddy won't let them use their credit card.
I'd pretty much garuntee $15/m and 30 free days (from lvl 20 or whenever billing would start) with purchase. P2P, a Mature Rating, and the continuing success of the overly-simple WoW will hopefully keep the kiddies at bay.
Its going to be P2P. You get what you pay for, and shelling over 15-20 bucks a month is nothing if it ensures the buyer bug fixes and future content additions.

Yes, two.
Shadowbane went 100% free a while ago, it was considered a triple A, I do not know if it still qualifies
Anarchy Online has a f2p version, which includes the classic game and one expansion, upgrading to the rest of the expansions requires payment though.
However, none of them have the same payment plan for GW, triple A game or not

So, those whose parents don't like that their children are using their credit cards are unwanted? Are we worse players than you? Come on... That's just ridiculous. Try making better reasons if you want to backup your arguments.

what the hell are u talking about ??? so they are going to make u pay when u are play in the single player lvls??? well thats messed up... w/e only time will tell
no, no. The first 20 levels of the game are "singleplayer", and I garuntee you wont be billed for it, unless they decide to make it pseudo-multiplayer down the road. For the first 20 levels you develop your character. At level 5 you pick a Class, and at 20 you pick an Archtype, at which point, your realeased into the game world of Hyboria. It dosent mean single play like you traditionally know it. There is just an emphasis on doing your own gaming to complete your characters basic abilites. Level cap is 80 and you "start" the game at 20.

How is it hard to get a credit card?
1. Ask your parents.
2. Pay them 15$ every month.
I've been playing mmos since I was 8, it isn't hard to do.
