Ok I know I will never see 40 again.
This is a rant so if you don't like rants stop reading now.
It seems to me that lately I see more and more posts here that use the terms "Fanboi, Carebear, Noob, and so on. What has happened to gamers have we all reverted back to childhood ??? (Before you start the flames I am guilty also)
Take for instance the current post about the vote for best game. Why does it matter if a certain MMO wins ?? You would think that peoples lives depended on the outcome. That whole post is just childish. Why do people want the game they play to be the one everybody likes. Are gamers co-dependent ?? Its like "Mommy they did not pick the game I play therefore I am going to whine ??
If someone says they like a game then 10 other people who don't like it call them a fanboi. If someone states they don't care for PVP they are called carebear and are accused of being a wimp. Also if someone says they like PVP they are accused of being a ganker.
Not matter what opinion you express on this forum you will be flamed by others for having the nerve to state something that "they don't agree with".
I myself have been called a nazi, a liberal, a facist, a bigot, and various other labels. Well guess what there is no way I can be all of them so someone is wrong.
There is so much hate expressed on this forum that as far as I am concerned this forum is really useless. If you try to find out about a game and ask a question most times you will be flamed and called an idiot for even having an interest in it.
Like I said maybe I am getting old but I am really getting sick and tired of all this crap.
I know nothing is going to change here and I will bet $1000 that I will get flamed for this post. However thats the way things are here and the way gamers are now.
I am sorry that I could not be more elequont <sp> but I was not an english or lit major.
Support Bacteria, its the only culture some people have.

I find it amazing that by 2020 first world countries will be competing to get immigrants.
I think people can become quite polarized especially as jibes or disrespectful comments are made. For instance, Eve Online players may pump up their game and say all other games are crap, in turn, people become polarized by then announcing their hate of Eve Online even though they might not actually be an EvE Online disliker. So that is one aspect, another is the 'not giving anyone an inch', to discuss you need to acknowledge weaknesses of something in one way or another. If people can't do this then it omits discussion and turns it into the polarized arguments. And lastly, the good old text limitation. Half the time people arguing are actually arguing the same thing and already know what they're arguing against but don't like the way someone puts it into text as it could convey something else. For instance, someone may say WoW is carebear, the other person may acknowledge WoW isn't very hardcore but objects to it being called carebear. Even though, in fact, they're actually agreeing.
lol I know what you mean. And you're not old. People 70+ play video games. I knew some guy older then that playing EQ2. There are two reasons, I reckon:
a) It's the internet. People can choose to be anonymous and therefore act in ways they'd never act in real life. I'm betting those people who throw all those nasty labels around and just insult anyone they don't agree with would never do it in real life because they don't have the guts.
People are generally less polite, less thoughtful and less mature on forums because they can get away with it. There alot of people who are narrow-minded and simply can't accept or try to understand anyone elses opinion. Or they love all the negative attention they recieve a.k.a trolling because they can't get any attention in real life probably. Shucks, but that's the internet and that's humans for ya.
b) People love drama and will often do anything to create it or find some. People will often start flame wars and a slew of insults just to watch and enjoy the drama that unfolds.

the reason why people ask that is so they get a game that is populer and thriving so that they can play something that is better then a isolated, deserted game they use to play (Runescape, Tibia Online, Playerworlds). I think they also want to move on to something better then those games so they can stop being a troll and start becoming PvP players so they can get a taste of the real thing about the new-gen MMORPG's.
as learned in my english class the first step isnt to flame the audience, they wont go along with it and will just flame back.
meh, it's the 15 year olds. the membership of this site has increased dramatically over the last year and it's all teenagers.
and have you noticed that kids don't go outside anymore? it's was a beautifull week here in the northeast and the local neighborhoods were ghost-towns. it's probally because they have to wear a helmet to leave the house and there's no place to buy ciggarettes anymore....
i guess their little minds are much safer inside downloading porn.
