I could not help but want to shed a tear for this once great game as I checked the website to see what the reactivation of accounts was all about. I qualify, but 10 days is not enough for me to get hooked and also involved with a guild.
Then I seen the population. 1100 was the amount on the Classic cluster. That is just sad compared to several years ago. For me to come back, the game needs to be the way it was before. No instance dungeons, so people can group together like before in the open world. None of the new expansions, which I do own. Creating new expansions that expand the world only makes the population seem smallers. I liked just the old world, with maybe SI. That way people are forced to see one another.
I had the most fun in DAoC when i was grouped with other people and grinding for hours on end. Now it is get new mission, zone in, complete mission and zone out; rinse and repeat until 50. RvR isn't fun anymore, because it is all about who has the biggest zerg. Zerging is not fun, but skilled groups facing each other is. Mezzing also kills this game, because it allows for 5 sec battles. I want to be fighting for at least a minute, especially after taking an hour to find someone to fight. Last but not least, people are still too cookie cutter in this game. You have to be this or that class with this or that build to be successful or invited to a group. Well screw that. Mythic didn't make skill branches not to be used.
Until Mythic fixes the above problems, I will be playing another game that has less problems. Every game has problems, but the goal is to find the one with the least amount or at least ones that don't bother you so much. I've always loved Mythic and still do, but they moved DAoC away from the type of game I like to play.
