Phantasy Star Universe expansions announced

I guess this solves the mystery on how content will be added to the game. Sega announced its first expansion a few months ago actually, but as I didn't see a thread on it, I guess I'l make one.

You can find the expansion site here, which only shows some artwork.

These arent expansions, they're just a series of online quests which continue the offline story.  No new data is being added, just dialogue and an npc.  Due to the Ps2 limitations all SEGA can do at this point beyond unlocking content on the disc is release online quests that are held serverside.  We wont see any new graphics (clothes, weapons, nanodesigns etc) that arent already in the offline/extra modes.

Unless they pull a pso and make psu v2 and release an new disc, or something.

I think its going to be on a new DVD (not CD). Or so it seems, I wouldn't know how else PS2 users would receive updates. I wish Sega wouldn't have released PSU on Playstation 2, its really keeping back all the updates.

I know!  I think they should have only released it for the 360 and the PC.  Having it on the PS2 is just slowing down all the updates!

The PS2's inclusion was a given, I'm sad to say. SEGA wanted this to be a console MMORPG more than anything else, and take a guess what the primary market for this game is? It was Japan, a place where it sold well. If it had been exclusive to the PC and 360, two platforms Japanese consumers are wary of buying RPG's on, I guarantee you that it would not have.

Everybody has already pointed how the PS2 is holding this game back, and I agree completely, but the sad reality is that SEGA's hands were tied on this one.

At this point, I'd seriously settle for a decent GUI on the PC version. Having to press ten keys and spend five seconds to change the element on my gun is idiotic.

just for a bit of advice. the PS2 version is probibly why SEGA has announced the new expantion so soon. this would allow them to distribute all of the updates at once. i dont know if PUS for the PS2 does utilize the ps2 HDD for those with older models. however they may also be using the expantion to post it for the PS3 wich does have a HDD on board. this would allow all of the updates for the PS2 game (yes still a ps2 game just on the ps3) at the same time as the other systems.
