I think EVE is has one very good thing going for it: It allows for experienced players to bring down and break new-comers. It offers a good and retribution-free environment where you can cultivate a cutthroat dog-eat-dog environment.

And very few games allow you to suppress other players to such an extreme extent. The original poster said that you could be forced out of a section of space and that diplomacy was important. I don't agree with that, as long as you put in more hours than your opposition and aren't afraid to keep a strong pressure on CCP and the GMs you WILL win through, it all boils down to seeing BEYOND the game to find the way to win IN game.

That doesn't work in WoW or EQ2 for instance, since there is no way you can pressure Blizzard/SOE and they basically don't care. CCPs idealism means that they are bound to give in at a certain point if you pressure their infrastructure and/or employees sufficiently (they are less than 40 full time employees in the EVE project).

So it opens up for a lot of new ground. And I love EVE and CCP for that.

    The strong rule all.

    1) EVE allows for experienced players to "BREAK-IN" and nurture new players. Empire space is realitively safe and players can avoid most hostilities if they choose too.

    2) Suppress players ???? Guess that means you need to get along with the establishment ....... check the definition of diplomacy plz ... obviously you didn't learn it in school and don't understand what I'm talking about.

    3) You can put in 23 hours/day and still not be successful against ANY established group. Do you even really play EVE. This statement leads me to believe you never have...

    4) Lastly are you suggesting that IF you whine enough eventually CCP will let you have your way?? NONSENSE !!!!! CCP is FAIR if nothing else and the control of regions of space is one of the fundamental cornerstones of the game.

Could I have an example of the retribution free enviroment?

Could I have an example of pressuring CCP and the GMS that give you an unfair advantage over your fellow gamer?

Could I have a clear example of CCP giving into pressure, therefore allowing a group to have an unfair advantage?

I've played for nearly two years now and I disagree with with nearly all of what you said, your post seems very bitter towards CCP.

"Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience"

I'm not sure where you've got your information from. First of all, CCP is not less than 40 full time employees in the EVE project. Last time I heard they were about 150ish. I think that's what they said at the fanfest. CCP's idealism? I'm not sure where you've gotten this information from. And what on earth do you mean by putting "pressure on their infrastructure and/or employees sufficiently"?

If you somehow think that whining will make ccp give in, you must be hallucinating. However, they do take in suggestions from the players and have at several occations implemented things where they got the ideas from players and they felt were suitable for the game.

I'm not sure if actually trying to be ironic or sarcastic here perhaps?

The game is cool because you can take it in small amounts, run a mission or 3 in safe >.8 space loot the drops refine save up mats. Yeah, it sounds boring, but in a way I still progress. I think as a mature gamer, the little objectives to the greater goal are what makes us older gamers stay in the game.
