Yah, MPBT 3025 was almost ready for release when EA Canned it. Funny thing was it was MORE fun than any of the MechWarrior titles. Extremely well done, no lag at all and very realistic (well, for a game that you drove 15-30 foot robots in ;))

At any rate, it was an excellent MMOFPS and a LOT of players were pissed when it got cancelled. I'm sure the E&B crowd feels almost as jilted as we did. I say almost because at least they got to play their game for 2 years before losing it. We got to beta it for a bit but never got to play the finished product.

This was my first MMOG so I am rather sad at its passing. I always loved the video introduction. I left because MOB fighting did get boring after a while.

Electronic Arts has only themselves to blame since they never did take a portion of the players money to expand game play. All they did was add and delete new quests to accomodate the evolving story line. They closed down the studio that developed the game then and used it as a cash cow.

They could have easily added consigners to make crafting more enjoyable and then moved more fully into a player based economy. They could have then opened up new areas of space where player clans could build their own stations. Then they could have added consensual clan wars to compete over space station locations.

Maybe they will sell it to someone who can make it into a viable game. It fills a gaming nich that is not being filled (even with the new MMOGs due out).

I never played the game, but I don't think any MMO with an active community should be shut down.
