I don't suppose the people from the USA on here could explain why Rugby Union and Rugby League arn't big in the USA? No padding. The hits are just as big. It's doesn't get stopped every 10seconds. Quick. Big scoring. Pretty much the only thing according to previous posts is that it wasn't made in the USA.
I, like most Aussies just like every sport there is I can even get into lawn bowls on a good day.
I do have to vote for Football(soccer). I couldn't express how much I just love the game in words.

Well, the reason it isn't as big over here is that, as I said, we have our sports that we like, and we don't want anymore...but aside from that, I've watched lots of Rugby...and no, the hits aren't just as big.
Your argument is like a two legged dog with an eating disorder...weak and unbalanced.

They arent in Rugby Union, but they certainly have some huge hits in Rubgy League, trust me i played.
Watch those video's. If after watching them you can say they arn't as big.... well that's just a right differance of opinion.

After watching the Rugby videos, I can give you the real reason why American's don't like Rugby...the shorts are way too short, we wear our shorts half way down our asses and don't like them unless they are at least to our shins
The hits are pretty impressive for guys who aren't wearing pads...unfortunately I'm not sure how regularly hits like that actually happen, as the announcer said after one hit "that's the biggest hit of the season" and it was a good hit, but not something terribly out of the ordinary for football.
Your argument is like a two legged dog with an eating disorder...weak and unbalanced.
I was born/raised in the USA (My parents weren't though). I like soccer (international football) for the following reasons.
1. High endurance sport 2. Very athletic players. 3. Requires finesse, agility, and power, the game play is exciting near the goals. 4. I enjoy how fast the ball is kicked and with the spin and some of the kicks are just amazing with the power and trajectory and the distance they go.
I like American Football the best.
1. Extremely strategic game, more so than most people know. So much deduction and strategy occurs before the ball is snapped. 2. Best athletes in any sport in my opinion. 3. Athletes are best combination of power, speed, and agility. Not only are these guys like 6'6" and 225 lbs (roughly 2 meters and 100 kg for the Europeans), but they run ridiculously fast.
When american football players come out they go through a combine, which is basically testing their raw skills in a few drills. Like 40 yard dash (I'm gonna guess around 36m), the 2 meter/100 lb guys in the NFL can get so fast that they'll traverse 40 yards or 36m in 4.4 seconds. There are people in the NFL that are about 170 cm but weigh 100 kg that run 4.4 seconds in 36m.
In short, the most athletic people you see anywhere. Best blend of power, size, and speed. These guys are genetic freaks. Think of Orcs in Lineage 2 that run as fast as Dark elves .
Also, it is the epitome of team sport.
This is why American Football is my favorite sport, but I also love watching the world cup.
Also, NFL Europe is for NFL players that suck so much, thye need to play football in the offseason so they may make the final cut for the real NFL teams, it's also a cheap way to make money for the NFL.
Also, NFL players get seriously injured all the time. Tonight a man sprained his neck, another got a concussion, another broke his wrist, a few got knocked out cold, i'm sure someone tore up their knee, broken legs happen all the time, last week a man broke his arm cleanly through (you could see the wrong angle in his arm).

LOL. Yer I never really was a fan of the shorts back when I played.
You'll find pretty big tackles everygame. Yer that commentator didn't call that right IMO.
Actually that 2nd video has some nice shots of people getting stood on. That certainly doesn't happen in NFL. Spikes + face = ouch.

I have physical proof from four years ago that spikes + hand = ouch...a 400 pound teammate of mine decided to step on my hand after a play was over, fun stuff.
Oh and it does happen in the NFL every once in a while, this season some guy on the Titans got fined and banned for a few games for stomping on a guy's face with his cleets...the guy had to get like 60 stiches.

I think generally the devoted following to sport comes from what you've been brought up playing or watching. Football is a large part of the UK and because of that it also gains a lot of new fans every day instead of perhaps other sports. Anyway yeah I prefer football, and am a strong follower of it, American sports I have tried to watch but can't get into it especially Baseball which seems on par with Cricket as quite boring. But as I said had I been brought up with say American football I could probably appreciate it a lot more. I think perhaps any sport could be boring to an outsider, when any sort of emotion becomes involved or you learn to understand the intricacies of the sport that watching becomes more enjoyable.

it's called the Super Bowl, and is played by the teams in the NFL..there is a European version of the NFL, but from everything that I have gathered, they suck at the sport for some reason.
American's generally dislike soccer for a few reasons:
1: We like contact, and no matter what you say, two guys running shoulder to shoulder trying to get a ball isn't exciting, and slide tackling is lame.
2: We like games that move quickly, despite football's short bursts of playing, when the game itself is in motion, it's the fastest that there is, bar none...soccer takes way too long to get anything done.
3: We like an element of strategy...football is a strategic game, saying that it's a game with big guys running around smashing into eachother and nothing more shows a great deal of ignorance about how the game is played. I realize that soccer teams have gameplans, but the strategy of football shines due its frequent stopages and individual plays.
4: We like scoring...oh my sweet lord does soccer need to take a few guys off of the field to allow for more scoring.
5: We already have three major sports, and a fourth secondary sport, baseball, football, basketball, and the secondary sport is Hockey. We don't have time to be watching ALL of the sports.
Pluss...You know how Americans are, we like to do our own thing. Public transportation? Screw that, I'm American, give me my own car...What always gets me are the people who have never played football who try to say that football players don't need the pads...guys, play the game, then tell me that you don't need pads. We had the star player on our soccer team as a kicker on our football team a few years ago, we sent him in on a tackling drill one time just so that he could see what it was like...he tackled one of the weakest guys on the team, and he comes back over to me when he was done and says "Joe...dude that fucking hurt like hell" Despite all those pads, taking hits, and even giving out hits, freaking hurts...even with that thick helmet, people still get concussions. I gave a guy a concussion my sophomore year of high school just by tackling him...the pads are necessary or else people would be getting destroyed on a regular basis.
obviously american football is called american football for a reason. nobody else likes it. normal football(soccer as you like to call it) is a worldwide sport, hence a true world cup and european cup. besides which, american football is too stop and start. normal football flows freely.
5: We already have three major sports, and a fourth secondary sport, baseball, football, basketball, and the secondary sport is Hockey. We don't have time to be watching ALL of the sports.
Humorously, Netball, Rounders and Hockey are all national sports here in Brtain too.

Then I recommend you go watch some football matches from the last world cup, and compare that with the strategy involved in american football. There is one advantage that American football has, you can get a new beer every few seconds because the game has to stop every few seconds.
Having played Football myself I had always considered Soccer a fags sport, that is until I played it, and realized how very skilled and very athletically built you have to be to play. I also found how very painful it is compared to football, being hit while wearing all the gear is not really that painful, but hewing run down, kicked every place on my body and I mean kicked, slamming into other guys full force with no gear, and all the while trying to control a ball with your feet. Well lets just say I have a very high opinion of soccer and people who play it. American Football is not like Football anyways, I would have to say that Rugby is closer to American Football then Soccer is.
Damn byotch dat aint no friggn moon fool, dat be a friggn space station byotch.

common sence > USA
A
proffesional american footballer would not last 8 minutes on a rugby
pitch, no pads and no breaks everytime somone falls over with the ball..
No longer visiting MMORPG.com.
