my first opportunity to sue a company

so, i guess i have the opportunity to sue a company, but the question is, would it be worth it?

i've been planning on going into the air force for a while, so i was going to get lasic surgery to fix my eyeballs this coming summer. a few months ago i went to target to get new contacts and they gave me some generic brand contact solution with them. i used the generic stuff for a while and then my eyes started drying out all the time.

a few weeks ago i switched to normal solution but my eyes didn't really get better and i noticed the vision decreased in my right eye. i went to the doctor and she said i had some deposits on my cornea which was my eyes defence to something it believed to be toxic. the toxic stuff was that contact solution.

so now i have this stuff on my right eye that causes me to have huge light halos and not be able to see as well. also, i can't wear contacts for up to a year and i can't get lasic which Fs my airforce plans in the A. i also didn't own glasses so i had to go out and spend 400 bucks to get a pair since i can't wear contacts anymore. should i try to sue the company that makes the contact solution?

Sounds like you have a good case...  I mean some one did sue Mc Donalds for their coffee being too hot and one millions...  So WHY NOT!

yea lol but this is kind of more legit than that, on the bottle there was no warning that says "caution this will mess up your eyes" which isn't really assumed either.

if the stuff wrecked your eyes
you better take revenge and wreck their purse

question is can you really prove it? if so go for it!

    edit: reminded myself

its common that medical stuff has always like 2% become x from it 0,5% are totally finished if they take it
-might be also something like this, its normally written in the package leaflet

    Pi*1337/100 = 42

Talk to a litigator.  Sounds serious to me.

Also see a few more doctors for differing opinions and evidence.

Although I am often against our societies fascination with litigation, I am going to say you should definately talk to a lawyer.

yea i think i'm going to, it kinda ruined my AF plans and made me get glasses that i really didn't have 400 bucks to blow on at the time.

Sounds like from your financial situation you will have to talk a lawyer into taking the case on a contingency basis. First, check the internet under the name of the manufacturer and see if there is a class action lawsuit, if it happened to you it may have happened to others. If there is a class action lawsuit, or any other legal action, contact that lawfirm and see if you can join in on the litigation. If not, set up an appointment with an attorney close by you, one who offers free initial consultations. They will tell you if you have a good case, and advise you how to proceed. Watch that you don't get put on the line monetarily for the attorney fees, and keep in mind most attorneys will litigate that the sky is green and the grass is blue for the right price. And it would be you that would be paying that price.

Indeed, something as important as your eyes shouldn't just be ignored, especially when you could've easily gone blind.

I would consult a lawyer first, but it seems pretty straight forward. On top of that you may save others from the same situation.

yep today i'm gonna search the internet and see if there is a class action against them and if not i'm going to call them and see if they have ever had any complaints like this before. after that, my uncle is a retired lawyer so i'll probably get ahold of him.

If you can prove without a reasonable doubt that the solution damaged your eyes, I would say go for it

However, be prepared to try to "prove it."  It's harder than one may think

I plan on going in the Air Force too. Well if you want to sue, so for an ammount that will set you for the damage done to your eye. I would say about 5k (just a guess). Do some research and get as much info as possible before you decide weather to sue or not.
