New player(s) - duoable?

Hi all.

I've seen a lot of posts saying that soloing in this game is rare and not viable..

My other half and I have been thinking about starting FF11.... is there enough content for a (most of the time at least) duo to keep us interested/occupied?

    If you were a Beastmaster you can do most of the game solo. Aside from Missions where you'd need a Full party. Now Duo Beastmasters is even better. But their an advanced job. So you have to get one of the Basic 6 to 30 Before you can unlock them.

    The Problem with solo is FFXI is more realtime, and not a turn based battle system, And items that Recover HP like Potions, Totally suck.... You don't have any Auto Regen HP or MP (Only a few jobs get a 1hp/mp every 3 second tic) So after one big battle or a few smaller ones you're gonna need to rest. When you rest, You don't recover anythign for 30 seconds, Then you recive yoru First tic to HP & MP(Gona ignore MP for now). Your first Tic is like 10HP, Every additional tic happens every 10 seconds, And the ammount goes up by one. So 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, etc. Up untill you're full.

    So after resting 2 minutes, You'll recover 136 HP. Now imagine how long it'll take to recover 400, 500, 600 HP down the road.

    Mages get Clear mind Job traits, Which increase your Base Tic of MP recovered while healing. The first one for White mage is like at Lvl 20 and sets the Base at 15.

    Now Cure spells from White mage or Red mage. Take a little bit of MP, and cure Quite a bit of HP, Like Cure 1 cost 8 MP cures 30 HP, Cure II 24 MP cures 90 HP. Its a lot quicker to recover 24mp than it is 90 HP.


    So, If one person is a Melee, And the other is a Mage (Red Mage or White mage) Duoing is very possible.

    Friday, I duo'd with a friend 17-19. He was on Warrior & I on Red Mage. And we got better exp than what most parties get at that Level, Not to metion it was fun :D

    2 Redmages can also Duo.


    The thing with Beastmasters is they Charm Monsters, and use them to fight other Monsters. Just standing by watching. Beastmasters don't take that much damage, So they don't have that much downtime.

    Maybe the most money duo is a ninja and a rdm (you could take rdm and sub for brd if u wanted but haste is needed)

    Why? because thats the heart of your pt. w/e you add after that is like gravey... The whole BST duo thing aint fun at all...

    well ff11 is mostly based on parties and grouping. which i personally like, there are enough players to find a group at any level at just about any time. but yes a melee job duoing with a whm or rdm can get the job done, if you know what to kill and when.

    No do not try to solo you will miss out on alot of the game.I know a couple husband and wife that are both whm and hang together ,that say they are really enjoying the game.Down the road however when you discover more content you will need a party that is willing to spend the time to do things together.These two are lucky that they both picked whm however down the road parties are not going to need or want 2 whm in a party so they will be seperated.WHM is the one job that can fly by night because there is always a shortage of healers,and every party needs one.
