Originally posted by Suave Time mends all wounds. For those of you waiting to "find that spark again", I say only this: The future of gaming is far from ruined. There are still developers out there trying to bring back the better days of video games; people who might even have similar feelings to your's. But as we all know, waiting for the next greatest thing to play is a game of patience... sometimes frustratingly long patience. But therein lines the rub: The longer you wait, the better experience you'll have in the end. One day you'll wake up and "that" game will be there. And you'll wonder why you ever worried in the first place.
I really do hope I'll find that spark again
I had so much of a great time with thsoe consoles games and stuff.
Maybe I'm getting older too and my taste change..
Maybe because I'm older and that I've played lots and lots of games Its harder for me to find more innovative game and stuff
Maybe its me, maybe its the game, maybe both.
But I darn really miss that spark ><

Feel the same way - cant put my finger on why, but summarise on possibly one reason
Time to production!
Way back in the mists of time, games took about a month to develop and go to tape. Back then it was the gamer trying to catch up with the ideas being thrown at them, you'd go into a game shop to see whats new each week, and be met by 20 new games all there to be played.
Fast forward to day and its in reverse we are waiting for the developers!
Games take ages to be released (not a dig I can see why), and because of the time and the expense this incurrs, the developers take less risks in gameplay and ideas, because if the game bombs its game over for some.
There are some that buck this trend but year on year there are fewer and fewer, understandably so in many cases.
Im currently playing no MMORPG's as nothing is floating my boat, Eve's no longer feels like a new frontier, and fantasy mmorpgs havent captured my imagination for years - the only game on my PC is MIITW, my PSP collects dust, 360 games have been a mixed bag with some being brilliant and enjoyable, others not so, my only shining light so far this month has been Guitar Hero II on the PS2, but I can see after the parties at xmas this going on ebay.
You people are over reacting... They're f*cking games, get over it.
I'm bored with games too, but your acting as though it was the end of the world. I miss the days of Nintendo 64 as well, but there are still some good games out there. Now if your referring specifically towards MMOG's, I can definitely agree with you there...
Everything seems too happy for me nowadays. WoW is in much too happy of a light for my taste, and so is GW and many other MMO's that are rated highly. It's bad to start at the top and then see games come out that are worse. Very disheartening. Taking a long break from the genre of games you got bored of seems to be the only temporary 'cure' for me. Good luck finding yours.
I think the golden age of MMO's has pretty much passed. Unless something really, really groundbreaking come out I think the MMO's will become the nickelodeon (sp) movies of the gaming world. A quaint but forgotten form of entertainment. Part of this is because there is so much corporate interference with the creation of these games that any sort of outside-the-box ideas are killed before they are even considered because they don't fit the "formula" for a good (meaning profitable) game. Every developer wants their game to be as good as game X. I also think that as you get older your interest in games wanes off some. Like movies, computer games are geared towards a certain age demographic so older gamers (like myself) become less and less interested in the type of game being released. Also I think that our priorities change as we get older. Things like work, wife, children and other things in the real world become more important than playing the latest blood and gore fest game. That's just my 2 cents worth.
Well Ive been doing this little thing since the Commodore Vic20 and on arcade machines before that.
The golden age of gaming is shining like a beacon just ahead. We are on the cusp of photo relaistic animation, super AI and broadband capable of delivering it to the masses.
In the next 5 to 10 years MMO gaming with elclipse most other forms of entertainment in almost any terms you want to name, including quality.
The best is certainly yet to come.

Well, i think the there will be a time again, where games rule through their concept not through how much processor power they need.
Yes, the genres have lifted and it seems now that everything has been done, but i think there is more to come, but i think this will just come, when the publisher learn that a good game isnt one that appeals the mass market, but more produce deeper more specific games.
I can say this and be truthful. I have played EVERY single MMORPG that has been brought out in an English language and 75% of the MMORPG's from Asia/Korea etc.
I move from MMORPG to MMORPG because none live up to my expectations. Not one has kept me hooked since The legend of Mir: The three heroes. Which was the first MMORPG I actually paid for.
I love games, I have every console. I play games till I finish them every time.
But at the moment in MMORPG's life is dull. I am hoping that the Warhammer Online will change this and blow the sack of shit they call the "Best MMORPG ever made" (WoW) out of the water.
I really need a new game, with constant crafting, where I can own a house or a tavern or a shop. Fully changeable world, always changing, fast paced PvP and mostly HARD....I mean come on, WoW I got from 1-60 in 2 weeks. Thats way too easy. I want it to be hard and rewarding.
People tell me that if this is what im searching for, I need to play Vanguard. Anyone got a way for me to get into that beta?
