Give Me Your Opinion

I have been playing D2 for the last 3 years now, and am now getting very bored of it. Iv'e been looking at all the new MMORPG's they have out there and 2 so far have caught my eye. Guild Wars Nightfall and Arch Lord. They both look similar to D2 wich is what im shooting for. Can i get some opinions on wich to choose, and if u have another game that is similar to D2 that i can check out on this site would be great aslo. Thanks to All who reply

well having played D2 a 'lot' TBH theres nothing that comes close to it on the gaming market atm however:

Guild Wars - Basically other then the fact it's instanced once you step outside the towns, it's not really diablo-ish,  it's 'singleplayer campains' are compared to D2 small, and the characters between each one cannot be tranfered (although I've heard Nightfall may link to one of the other two) and you have to pay for each campain witch is offputting for some. Being heavly geared towards arena pvp, unless you perfer to contantly do that with random players, I'd avoid it..

Archlord - This is certainly not like Diablo although with it becomming F2P (after box buy) like GW is next month, it's the better value of the two IMO, it's grindy but so was Diablo, it's skill system is not as flexable and it is geared towards PVP however more open than GW is..

The only Diablo type games that is currently out are Mageknight and Titan Quest:

Mageknight - It's a good game, flexable skill trees, customisable party members (although it's limited to what type they are when you first meet them) and 'clickly' combat like Diablo was. However it's had a lot of patching issues, and the camara frustrated the heck out of caster classes (I threw my mouse it was that bad), the single player part isn't short but it could have been longer and harder, and mulitplayer is sub-par. So unless you can put up with the techical issues, avoid till fixed for now

Titan Quest - Good soild title it's the closest thing to Diablo so far, really good skill trees and nice cross-class system (making i think 26 classes), however thats also it's downfall, some classes and cross-classes are too weak or too powerful for the game, and some skill choices must be taken or the class just falls apart, so single player can either be a cakewalk or frustrating difficult, I've yet to see an balanced class type. TQ also has a level creator witch does extend the game Multiplayer side unless it's been changed resently do not take your singleplayer character into multiplayer, what it did for me is automatically finish the game when someone killed the final boss and it saved it to that character, so I was unable to kill that boss myself, it also 'opened' warp points and story plot I couldn't reach yet as like Diablo you cannot access in multiplayer what that character has yet to see in single, but other in the game still can even if you create the room.. This ruined the experence for me..

There is light at the end of the tunnel though has Flagship have Hellgate: London, these are the guys that did Diablo and from interviews and newspost I've read they are taking as much of feel/style of Diablo as they can and throwing in a 'few' features that the Diablo-leet wanted to see, only problem I see with it is that they've partned with the guys who made Mageknight, and if you've read above you can see way it 'could' be a bad thing

    I would avoid archlord.

game was VERY laggy, every player looked exactly the same, controls seemed to have a mind of thier own sometimes and I just really didnt find it entertaining.

cant speak for guild wars. never played it.

You can transfer character (you use Boats :P)

The only reason you pay for each Campain is because there all stand-alone games and you don't need the previous one's to play the newer versions.

    Also each campain adds
    Hundreds of new skills
    2 New character Classes
Thousands of new people to play with
    Hundreds of new items
at least 10 + New Group Missions
    10 + New PvP Arena's
A lot of new Single player type Quests
    And many more.

Also i consider myself an expert on this matter because i played the diablo series games since there release in the mid 90's and i also own all 3 guild wars games and i have played guild wars since it's release.

The only thing alot of people don't understand about guild wars is, that it's not a MMORPG it's a MMOG

Oh I'm sorry 'mr expert' my lack of knowleage due to the fact I only own the first 2 versions of Guild Wars my information is not worth listening to is it? I must go out and buy nightfall right away..

    /sarky off

I know the 'reason' why you have to pay for each game and quite frankly it's cheap, and I know for a fact I couldn't transfer my Prof char to Factions, witch really put me off buying Nightfall, I spent all that effort with the Prof char and it's meaningless if you intened to play the same class types again within the PVE side, like I said if the OP has the money and likes to PVP primarally he'll be ok with it but having a Diablo background he's looking for PVE content which TBH after playing the first two games is very poor.. playing the one it's fine but once you get the others it's just same old same old, if they were like £15 a game fair enough but £30 it's too much for just an expantion really..

FYI I don't like 'I'm a know it all, only listen to me' posters
