I played L2 a long time ago as a beta tester and it had tons of problems. Tried it with Chronicle 1-4 and each time it was getting better but still just didnt feel right.

Chronicle 5 on the other had really adds alot to the game. Its easier to start out as a noob as there are numerous ways to get support:

1) Support Magic from NPCs that will add bonus HP regen, faster movement and more.

2)Herbs that drop from monsters in a psuedo-action-platformer type way. Grab the "power-up" and instantly be healed or regain mana. There are other "power-ups" also including; Haste, Magic Attack increase, Attack speed increase, and the list goes on. These 'Herbs" drop in any "General" field area not in Dungeons. It helps with the downtime.

3)You can exchange equipment as a noob to get better equipment at a lower cost.

There are more features I just cant think of them all at the moment.

The only negatives to the game I have encountered were the absorbent amount of Bots, aka Computer programs that play the game to make money by selling in-game currency or items online. The huge influx of bots, I was told, was from the Free trial that went out from MMORPG. Now that the trial is ending alot of the bots are vanishing. Its still too bad that NCSoft wont make a stand on this matter.

Anyways, the price of playing isnt too bad. 14.99 a month US. Also, the collectors edition is out now and it comes with some in-game item, a trial card for 15 days of play that you can use or give to a friend, 30 days free play time. exclusive DVD rom content movies and behind the scenes. A cloth 2 sided world map and wallpapers. It sells for 29,99USD.

I should state the game is more like a Social-sandbox as it gives you the tools to wage massive wars, take over castles and really effect the MMO world you play in but, you need to make friends. Its NOT a solo game. You CAN solo but you'd be missing out on what makes the game so different. The crafting system is a yawn (only dwarves can craft for SOME reason)and the results are less than spectacular considering the amount of materials it takes to make one cheap item.

WoW this game is NOT. Its considered the MMO elite or Hardcore audience that plays this title. You wont be gaining 10 levels in 1 night. The exp curve is HUGE at higher levels. Many call this the GRIND. This game has it in spades. But there are more changes coming with the INTERLUDE patch and Chronicle 6. Many of these changes will effect the EXP curve, as well as give a new "Crafting System", similar to "Alchemy" in Silkroad.

So how much did NCsoft pay you to write this?

Perhaps, the sponser isn't NCsoft. (edited)

Cryo, Will you just shut up and let the guy post? he is enjoying the game, and he likes to share it You didn't HAVE to read it, and you didn't have to comment on it. Some people actually LIKE Lineage 2, and its refreshing to see a post that Isn't "OMGZ, NCSOFT isn't doing anything about the bots!".

Seems like an advertisement to me. The whole free trials have led to a huge amount of bots is kind of funny. If you've dabbled in the game between C1 to C4, you wouldn't have bothered to make that point. He likes the game good, it's not a bad game, it's a great game with shitty maintenance or unethical or selfish or what not.

There's a difference between an "I like a game" and "persuasion and advertisement" post. Read it closely, I could be wrong, but it's my opinion.

Hmm, perhaps the sponser isn't NCsoft :).

If that was an advertisement, then he would have not put in the bot issue or stating that your missing a lot out of the game if you solo, and he also wouldn't make the comment about the crafting part. he is giving his view on the game, and there was absolutely NO reason for you to make that troll comment. it was very childish.

    Dude,

Get over yourself. Here are the reasons I thought it was an advertisement.

    1. Anyways, the price of playing isnt too bad. 14.99 a month US. Also, the
collectors edition is out now and it comes with some in-game item, a
trial card for 15 days of play that you can use or give to a friend, 30
days free play time. exclusive DVD rom content movies and behind the
scenes. A cloth 2 sided world map and wallpapers. It sells for 29,99USD.

--- who does that?  It's as if he just bought the collector's edition, remember he's played from beta to c1 to c4.

    2. The only negatives to the game I have encountered were the absorbent
amount of Bots, aka Computer programs that play the game to make money
by selling in-game currency or items online. The huge influx of bots, I
was told, was from the Free trial that went out from MMORPG. Now that
the trial is ending alot of the bots are vanishing. Its still too bad
that NCSoft wont make a stand on this matter.

-- the reason for the bots is crap, the fact that he explains what a bot is like we don't know it is crap, it's like he tailored his post to an audience that has no clue about mmo's.

As I stated, it may not be sponsored by NCsoft, NCsoft wouldn't have allowed the anti-botting or anything even remotely negatively in there.

Just from the writing, i can't fathom this being a genuine post. I looked at the Lineage 2 website to see any details about Interlude and it was a bit scant. If someone came here to make a post with this intention, it would not have been written like this.

It seems this post was written somewhere else and then copied and pasted to this website. I think that because,

"The huge influx of bots, I was told, was from the Free trial that went out from MMORPG"

As I said before I could be wrong, my point isn't to troll, it was more to point at something I thought wasn't genuine. Furthermore, the person signed up in 2004 and finally made 1 post almost 2.5 years later.

Now you can never be sure, but it's a fishy post, now the real question is, who gives a crap whether it's an advertisement or not?

your reasons are extremely flawed, there is just one part of your post I can agree with.

"who gives a crap whether it's an advertisement or not?"

It seems we agree, nobody cares if its advertusenent or not, so there was no reason to post that comment.

      . . . sigh . . .

Yes, my reasons are always flawed, i read that and it screamed out bullshit to me. I can't see any person genuinely making that post using those words and speaking about what they were speaking about.

If someone wants to make a post about how good the game is, they don't go into detail about the financial package. They don't talk to an audience as if we have no idea what a bot is and say the bots are because of free trials, and this from a person who has supposedly also played form OB to c1 through c4.

I can see where it may be misleading, talks crap about NCsoft, says some negative crap about the game, but it's still fishy. True, i shouldn't have made the post, I'll agree with you there, If i'm wrong, then i look like an asshole and my punishment is that I look like an asshole :).

At the end of the day, we can't seem to agree.

Also, if we agreed to not care about whether it is an advertisement or not, then why care what I post? Oh Snap lol.

Anyway, I respect that your opinion is different than mine, but don't be so condescending next time :).

Let's just keep it at: Some people like Lineage 2 and some will never like lineage 2. Some people hate the grind, some love the grind. Some hate the bots, some dont (most of the time i ignore them, a few times after friendly asking i got a room for a few hours and sometime i simply got killed). Besides that the game isnt expensive, the next big update has great features (if they can keep that promise of course). As long you are a member of a guild this is the game for you. PvP haters or solo PvE players won't like the game one bit.

image Think my post came across wrong. I just play the game. The bot thing was one of the main issues I had with the game in retail, from trying all the C1-C4 it just seemed like NCSoft was never going to do anything about it. I was told by alot of the players in-game that the bot population exploded due to the mmorpg.com 14 day trial. I was on one of these trials.

I was just saying the cost to play and the collector or epic edition or whatever its called is out. Didnt mean to seem like an advert. Just wanted to let people know the costs to play and what all came with the new box.

I have become a retail subscriber though and the amount of bots HAS declined since the free trial period is over.

I just didnt want my post to be another bot thread is why I mostly went the angle I did.

I thought I was keeping up to date with the Interlude patch notes but I never read anything about changing crafting. Could you explain this or point me in the direction of your source?

    L2guru Translated PTS Interlude notes

This is the closest to anything we got. This is what is going on in Korea on the PTS. Mind you everything stated here is still in PTS testing in Korea and could change before it hits live, meaning it would change before it comes to North America. Just keep an eye in that forum section and you should be good to go.

There is also the L2 Korean Site, and the L2 official forums has info up but it is pretty much the same as blah's and blah usually get's it earlier.

I am in complete agreement with the original poster.  I am an idiot who simply loved the game when it first came out but thought that it had some issues that just made it rougher than it should have been.

I picked up Guild Wars: Nightfall and got a 14 day trial for all of NCSoft's online games.  I figured I had enough frustrated fun the first time... so it was worth a quick visit if it was a free one.  I've only been playing for 13 days... and I have to admit that I'm planning on staying.  I've only been playing casually and have been soloing... but the tweaks and changes to the game have been great for making things a bit easier at the start.

And if NCSoft wants to pay me for these comments, then I hope they contact me.

BTW, I'm not an NCSoft guy.  I'm a guy that is excited because when I did the dumb trial, I really didn't think the experience would be any different than my fun but frustrating experience from when the game first came out.  I was even excited enough to start a new thread post "A Noob's second look at Lineage II".

    **Edit **

Also, if you've been doing LII for awhile, you probably haven't been exposed to alot of the new content at the newb level.  There's a ton of things that made the early levels much smoother.  Newbie Travel Tokens, Newbie Guide, Newbie Soul Shots.  Mob health drops.  Mob buff drops.  Less botting on the starter villages.

    Death By Roo Roo!
