BEST CRAFTING MMORPG ON MARKET ???

I would do a poll but I figure, first off I havent played EVERY single MMORPG to date (almost everyone, but not everyone) and I want your opinions without throwing mine in yet. Try not to discuss to much I just need opinons but feel free to backup your opinion. Oh and no flaming everyone has a right to their opinion no matter how stupid it is *cough* everquest *cough* worst *cough*. And remember ONLY take into account the CRAFTING side of the system even if the loot/pve/pvp sucks ass. I know its rough :/ So here goes...

WHAT MMORPG TO DATE HAS THE BEST CRAFTING SYSTEM >?

Horizons, hands down.  This game is 90% crafting.

If its true that when you drop a cat it lands on its feet or if you drop toast it lands butter-side down... what happens if you strap toast to a cats back and drop it?

But the game is so frickin' boring. At least in UO you actually work for your stuff.

    UO followed by Horizons.

Sadly, the majority of online players' definition of a newbie, noob, newb:
"Anyone that has been playing at least one day less than me!"

Okay screw it , since noone will ever nominate it, my favorite is Project Entropia. Now given I have only played Horizons, UO, AO, AC, AC2, Shadowbane, Earth above and beyond, SWG, Jumpgate, EQ, EVE, DAoC, Planetside, Sims, WW2, and played around with a few others. I may not be an expert :) But it is the only true crafting system. First off all materials are based on those you FIND (mining, hunting, etc) you cant buy the materials from NPCs, The only blueprints you can buy are the most basic ones, the rest you get from crafting as you skill up. Its the only MMORPG that you can get items that are worth different amounts not only based on your skill but there is a certain random factor where sometimes you will get perfect items worth 10x the normal price. All this ontop of a high player demand crafted item society and you have my vote for the best crafting MMORPG in existence. Oh btw hands down the best for mining etc to. Anyway thats my opinion, thats how a crafting system should be.

(only draw back is you play with real money, but when you win, you win big :) )

FFXI does all those things and the pricing also changes for items not only at shops, but also at the A.H. FFXI has an excellent crafting system. SWG crafting system is pretty damn good too. I have never played Project Entropia, so I can't say much about that. Horizons crafting system is very good, the problem is it becomes boring as hell once you get to L25-30 in skill. If there was other things to do in the game besides crafting it would be a LOT better. Well, maybe not a LOT better, since Horizons has SO MANY other issues it isn't funny. Give FFXI a try though. It's an excellent game, but a real treadmill grind.

I cant say much for FFXI, I dabbled a little bit, but graphics were really screwed up on my computer (where as planetside I get 30-40 fps with about 200 tanks on the field lol) , still to this day im not sure why. But as for horizons and SWG both which I played heavily, master architect and 38th dragon, both their crafting systems are horrible compared to Project Entropia, but then again its a real money game, but still its DAAAAAMMMMMNN good.

(As a side note I didnt really like FFXI besides my issues with graphical content I had some issues with the game itself but thats just my opinion dont know to much about the crafting side of it at all)

Not like there is much to do in UO.No real quest, zones are tiny compared to most games.Chat and chat.

However he said crafting and I say this with 100 % confidence -Star wars galaxies.

I could spend hours telling you why its better but like you asked no long post.Yes I have played horizons and UO too. Both have good crafting systems but are not in the league of SWG.

I have played both UO and HZ and I feel that HZ's crafting system has a ton of upside to it and eventually will be better without a doubt, but for right now I would have to say UO and HZ's crafting systems are neck and neck for the best. AND CRAFTING IS NOT BORING, especially for the casual gamer or soloist. I have a blast crafting.

The Myth of Soma has the best crafting/character design system of any game ive ever played. The gr8 thing is , is that for a novice , its easy as pie to start off , but as u raise your skill more options become available like Evasion armourthat sells for millions.

actually I found that A Tale in the Desert was the best crafting game since, well it is purely a crafting game image.  I tried the free trial and although I hate crafting professions this seemed very interesting.  There are some amazing things that people do in that game.  And you can craft many unique items.  And by unique, I mean unique image

I have not played them all. But Horizons has the best crafting I have seen to date.

There is only one opinion that matters.

  • FuzzydevilFuzzydevil Member Posts: 22

If you guys seriously love crafting and you love SWG go check out project entropia, its free first off, second off no monthly fee. :) But yet its one of the best MMORPGS to date IMO. And the best crafting system period :)

Of the games I have played, I would say SWG has the best. It actually may be too good (it is very database intensive). The harvesting system, stats on everything (some that mattered, and some that didn't), the fact that matterials could bite for one item but rock for another, and the customization and experimentation system was extremely good.

As much as I have put SWG down as a major flop, it has a crafting system that I don't see being beat by a game divided between adventure and crafting classes. Heck, if they had an end game I might still be playing SWG today.

Zhanghia I wont even reply to your comment. I think your quote speaks for itself.

But I checked out A tale in the desert, very complicated, but very enjoyable so far cant make any judgements yet but I think you guys might be onto something crafting wise here :)
