i realy do want to like anarchy online i swear!

I really do want to enjoy anarchy online but the frame rate is so bad. it cant be my comp because i just upgraded my graphics card and can run Battlefeild 2 noproblem and i used to play WoW. Anyone got any sugjestions. im sick of fantesy mmorpgs. i want sifi.

 

(oh and ive played EVE and love it just dont like how long skills take to learn so i quit. Please dont mention EVE.)

    I have ABSOLUTELY no idea if this is what your framerate problem is or not, but since AO is an older game, I'll throw it out there. If you have a dual core CPU, which I do, and are running an older game like KOTOR (which is what I was playing that led me to discover this issue), you may need to go into task manager, go to Processes, right click on the AO process (not sure what it's called, for KOTOR it's called kotor.exe) and then click on Set Affinity. Uncheck one of the 2 cpus and click OK.

    This helped my KOTOR. It seems that KOTOR, being older, was written with code that is almost completely incompatible with dual core processors.

    I had the same problem, the graphics just didn't run smoothly even though I have a top of the range graphics card, it think it may be something wrong with the game being older. Anyway the graphics and framerate problem soon made me quit even though I did try and enjoy it, Anarchy Online jsut wasn't made for me I suppose.

    Ive tried several times to get into AO as its the most popular sci fi mmorpg on the market but it just lacks that "Je ne sais quoi". Its a red raw level grind with an even harder money grind - its just not fun at all and its itembase lacks structure - the trade terminals are filled with BS and everyone else gets uber stuff they acquired via their alt - leaving those without alts in the lerch.

    Anarchy Online will be getting a code update about the time the Lost Eden expansion comes online. This update is suppposed to improve the manner in which much of the graphics are handled. It should improve the graphic latency issues many people have with the game.

    One of the wierd things about AO, the higher end graphics cards and processors have more trouble with it than craptastic computers. Take my laptop for example, its configured for my work at college. In other words, not for gaming at all. I almost never see the slightest bit of lag.
