I think the blue is fine. But the bright white bars are rather garish when combined with the generally dark layout of the site.

It hurts my eyes, seriously. I've got a little bit of a headache already. Its too bright, I guess. And everything seems to be BIG, like the insanely big fonts on Word that nobody uses unless they're messing around. I suppose I could get used to it, but I already miss the old site.

I really don't like the new layout. I love blue, but this is a little much, and everything seems oversized. And maybe I just missed it among all the oversized fonts, but is the lastest post and most active thread links still on the front page?
Just to point out, one of the great things about this change is the ease of updating the site or even offering users a variety of skins to choose from. Evan (the designer) is using a 99% CSS/XHTML based design, so that these kind of things will be a snap to implement.
No offense to Evan, but im betting he is a coder/programmer/web developer, nobody with a real background in art/design would produce work like this, not if they wanted to keep their job and reputation anyway.

There are no new emoticons. Those been here for over three years, the whole set has been here and has never changed. You might have never looked to see the button where you can click though the full list of emoticons which is displayed when you post.

Had to look at the address bar a couple of times to make sure I was at the right site LOL
Its gonna take a little getting used to but so far I think its pretty big improvement. One thing I have noticed is it looks better in 1280x1024 on my machine, but I usually run 1024x768.
Gotta move forward and with 500K+ members now (hard to believe but very cool) I guess change is going to be inevitable to accomodate the mainstream who are rapidly discovering our little obsession.

I'm guessing all of us will get used to the new layout in time... (some will take longer than others ) All the forums i know which changed their layout, were at first unpopular with their members. But after a month or so everyone found it "good"

Well, the site seems to load faster for me, and THAT is an improvement in itself. I have always loved this web site from the first time that I happened upon it, however, the pages would load soooo slow that navigation for me was nearly impossible... I nearly had a stroke b!tching about it to my hubby....
