agreed, looks nice, but it differnt and i don't cotten to different. Why risk creating new problems and confusing those who already were familiar with the old setup.
Well, it did actualy need some fixing up, markup wise, so the theme change, with the already changed logo was a natural extension. You have to remember, this wasn't an overnight change, and has been worked on for months with a great deal of testing. By the time the change is 100% we are hoping to offer a more intuitive site, so everyone can focus on the reason they are here.
It's not going to be an overnight change, but with time, and constructive feedback, we will make the most of it.
They added some new features with it by the looks of it which is a plus (The dropdown box of games :P) and with this MMORPG has also added a nice new image in the top left hand corner which is also nice. They also added the section bar Mid way on the left hand side of the page with Active topics,Recent topics and mail which now is easier to look at and click on :P
And even if you still like complaining i tested this with some of my old times loading this page and all of them are at least 2 seconds faster with these Basic specs
256 MB Of ram 100 GB Hard drive On Board video card
And on my gaming computer it registers a whole .8 milliseconds faster. With these specs 4 Gigs of ram 1 TB of Hard Drive Space GeForce 8800 GTS 640MB Video card Etc
So judging by the update it seems to have helped slower computer A lot more with load times then it does with anything else, Also i tested out how fast the game list "Fully Loads" on this slow computer and it was 4 seconds faster!.
So i guess this update to MMORPG's Layout was for the best, And keep up the nice work MMORPG.com Staff (I have been viewing this web page since 2003 and personally i have to say i like this layout better :P ( I wasn't registered until 05 :P)
Oh no, the functionality of the site is awesome. A definite improvement, no complaints in that area. My biggest problem is the color scheme. The bright blue is way too distracting and makes the site look dated. The bright orange buttons, could definetly be more mellower, but overall the layout and the functionality is great!

I kinda agree with you, as long as it come from Admin and nobody has to argue with him or get him more or less cooperating. See, the changes are kinda neat, if they come from Admin they are welcome. If they come from a seller, I say we burn the witch! I know how some peoples tend to enforce their way; player-experience with Brad and Sigil after all! See, the changes are nices and welcome, but they where NOT needed.
If someone hardpress Admin for these, I will be happy to light the torch and burn the heretic! If Admin wants these, then I will be happy to use my new Federation-interface.

Then why not make a "Suggestion" to MMORPG.com that they make different layouts and let the user choose which layout they want from there profile.
They could include Colour Schemes Site Layouts Old Site Layouts xD
That seems reasonable and i don't think it would take more then a week or 2 to make 3 or 4 color changes would it.? (I Wouldn't know because none of my websites are this Large)
I posted this in another thread(modified it more for here):
I think the new graphics are nice, but the site is just too busy to look at now. Before it was busy, but I felt the old layout helped toned it down. With the new layout, there is stuff here, there, everywhere. Stuff is moving here, ads are flashing there, and its and pain to look at. I can understand why the layout was done as MMORPG.com has a lot of content and you want your viewers to be able to access new and old content quickly and painlessly. However, I think the new layout is just trying to squeeze too much information into one visual space.
Some additional thoughts..
The new logo.... umm... okay. Why is the 'O' the way it is? If you're trying to create an icon to represent MMORPG.COM it is not working at all. Just looking at the 'O', I'm not thinking MMORPG.COM, or anything related to MMOs in general. Its just an 'O' trying to look cool. Well, actually, the first thing I think about when I look at it, is Turbine and Star Trek and Nike and the OC.
The lettering in the logo is too fuzzy. Cleaning up the edges and making it contrast more with the darker blue background will really make it pop out and distinguish itself from the background.
The tabs at the top can afford to be just a tad smaller in height.
For the montage, I would suggest looking at IGN and Gamespot. In Gamespot, they limit it to 5 featured content pieces and let you click through at the bottom. In IGNs, they feature more but have smaller versions of the graphic underneath in addition to icons for the previous few and next few content pieces for quick and easy navigation. I would also slow down the rate at which it scrolls automatically.
I think you should find a way to integrate the latest news and features sections but still keep them seperated. I guess the easiest thing would be to have them placed within proximity to the other, very much like how Highest Ranked/Most Anticipated are placed near each other.
I didn't even see the extreme rightside of the page(quick jump, polls, etc..) because there is so much more going on in the other parts of the page. Quickjump should be integrated into the gray bar under the tabs. Get rid of the scrolling news reel. You don't need it.
The only two things I really miss are the last topic/busiest topic listings and having the entire site fit on the page without needing to scroll down.
I use 1280x1024 screen resolution for the simple reason that most websites I visit with it fit the screen without havign to scroll. Unfortunately now this site no longer fits the bill, which I find incredibly annoying. I can only imagine how much scrolling folks set at lower resolutions have to deal with. I like seeing all the information in front of me upon load up, it's just the way I am, and I wish that were still possible with your site.
Needless to say, because of the new screen fitting I side with those who dislike the change.

But with this new crappy thing, it looks like a site for a 5 year old.
It looks noobish.
Starwars Galaxies, An Empier Diveded, That's what it says on my box anyway.
I find it amazing that by 2020 first world countries will be competing to get immigrants.
If You don't like it too bad.
