Noob ran too far...help!

Ok so I ran from Munoic to Britana...can I get back without walking back?  I died alot along the way and darn near paniced when I lost all my items! AAGGHH! I bought some blank runes and a rune book but cant figure it out...tried reading some guides but Im not getting it...I think I have to walk back...but can I make a rune for Britana so if I wanna come back I can...oh and once I make the rune how to i use recall?

The only way you can really get back, is to run.  Unless you find  mage there that can make a gate (portal) for you back to minoc.

But as far as the runes and runebook.  You have to mark the run wherever your at.  So if you wanna mark a rune in Britian, you have to be in Britian.  So, go ahead and buy the spell called "Mark" and do it somewhere in britian.  As far as getting back to Minoc....just look for that mage or maybe someone that can help you.

Recall, is almost the same as mark.  First, buy the spell "Recall", or have someone make it for you....then just use the recall spell, and click on your marked rune.

Ty makes lots of sense and helps alot just cant seem to find those spells on the mage npc in town...oh well Im stll falling in loving this game world already!

It helps sooooo much if u get in a guild and the people are willing to help you out.

In order to mark a rune you need sufficient magery skill.  However, if you really don't wnat to run back or ever get lost and dont have any runes, you can open ur paper doll (alt p) and use the help menu.  Pick 'character is stuck' and u will be transported back to the city of ur choosing within a couple minutes but u can only use this twice a day.  Comes in handy if u die in the middle of nowhere.

Still havent fully figured out how to use runes and my runebook...but a friendly player did port me back and was very helpful and made the experience fun at a frustrating point in the game.  Im really digging UO though...Just makes me think why did I wait 9yrs to play it!!!!!! GGGRRRR!

U can also use the moongates that is outside most of the towns.. with those u can teleport to any town that has a moongate..

Thanks Spexz...Ill try that...my days of hooffing it are going to crawl to an end...although I love running around looking at peoples vendors and homes so a good walk outside cities wil still be in order...gggrrr I cant stop playing this game..need sleep...need sleep...I log out to goto bed but before I do I check forums and other sites on UO and then I get excited and log back in for another session bah! Oh well I think I found my new home so thats good.

I am the Fizzle King! I cant get a Mark spell nor Recall off!  My Magery is 31.3 ive trained all that I can...ive gone through 50 black pearls or two stacks of all the ingredients needed...surely Im doing something wrong? Oh I think I just found out why Mark isnt working for me...Im a 4th circle magery and Mark is 6th?

U using a scrolls or regs? If u use a scrolls u should be able to pull a recall scroll at 0 magery and a mark scrolls around 20 magery..

 

But if u use ingriediens then its hard to pull a recall at 32 in skill... lvl 4 is around 35-40 in skill to have a good chance..

 

But some attempts should work for u even at that skill, does the spell fizzle all the time or? Just checking that u do it right, u cast the spell recall and then target a rune that is marked when u get the cursor up right? if u fizzle u fail to cast the spell otherwise u should be recalled to the area u marked the rune:-)

Im using reagents...I have a spell book open with Mark and an unmarked rune in inventory...I click on Mark spell in spellbook and select Rune 80 plus times Fizzle havent had one work yet. 

Only tried Recall a couple times.  Opened Runebook selected the page where the Rune is located and select Recall from that page.  Fizzle.

Bah...longest Ive spent trying to figure something out...lol gonna be real rewarding once i get this!

Ya, ur still a little low in the magery skill to be marking runes with regs.  You should be able to recall but not mark.  The way I have figured, each circle minimum required skill is around the circle multiplied by ten (ie fourth circle is 40 magery skill, 5th is 50...).  To have a decent chance to cast you should follow this rule.  It also helps a lot to train if you have funding and maybe some lower reg cost armor.  If you were on Lake Superior I would help you out with that but I don't have any chars on catskills.

You need your magery to be higher then that. I don't remember off hand what mark needs but I think it's around 60+. The best thing to do is goto the brit bank and ask someone to mark some runes for you. I suggest:



Brit Bank

Moongate (any will do)

A few well stocked Recall Vendors



That's enough to get you just about anywhere (or close to it) in UO.

Just have the runes on hand. If you can't find any recall vendors just ask around. They are quite common.

you dont necessarily need to run ALL the way back, theres a moongate kinda close to minoc which can transport you close to brit....but back in the old days running from one city to another was pretty fun for me imo...
