Well the TV series and movie were great. It's a shame it only lasted 1 season. Since it was short lived there could be a plethora of content they could add that wouldn't ruin the series.
Although I loved the series and movie (who didn't), I expect this game will be a huge flop. What new features will this game introduce to the MMO community? Probably very few, if any at all. The show was mainly good because of the characters, storyline, and great writers. The only thing this game can take out of those 3 is a storyline, and I don't see how they will be able to use just that to make a game that can compete in today's market.
They don't have to just use the story. I mean in all honesty they have the entirety of the 'Verse to use. It could easily become a great game. Though they have a long hard struggle to cope with. Namely getting the people into a Sci Fi MMO scene that doesn't feel like SWG rip off or even a Star Trek rip off since thats also in the works. This game has great potential for story and content they just have to implement it correctly. I for one look forward to it. I would love a good Sci Fi style mmo especially since I despised SWG.
would be even better if Raph Koster jumped on board but with or without him, ill probaly still end up playin this game.

Sheesh, I guess that thing really was better than it looked to me in the ads. Guess I need to go watch the movie at least myself.

You can watch the movie without watching the series, but the movie will make a LOT more sense if you have seen the tv series. Trust me, I have watched Serenity before I saw the Firefly series and although it was very entertaining, there were a lot of things I didn't get. Watch the television series.
already seen the graphics engine they are going to make it on...it looks like the sims (the first one). terrible, just terrible, it could have been much greater.
I never watched the series, but I watched the movie Serenity. It seemed like there was a good story behind everything and could be a good game if done right. First off, quest based content would ruin the game, because even the movie Serenity didn't display the feel that they were on a quest. It would probably need to be a faction vrs faction game with many explorable worlds and space travel and battle. I prefer a skill set instead of classes, but classes seem to fit better. Just on the ship Serenity alone you had a Captain, Engineer, Soldier, Pilot, Doctore, and a Psychic with the ability to kick a lot of ass. Then you had Mr. Universe, which is a Communications technology class, that one guy who was a priest. You then had an Assasin in the movie and the soldiers that followed him around. You had Reavers, which were a barbaric type of people, but that shouldn't be a choosable class since they probably don't have any intelligence. You could also have an entertainer, shipwright, weaponsmith, and armor merchant class. Plenty to go on there so far, and I haven't even watched the shows.
Like I said, it depends on how they do it. If they create a quest driven game that feels like a themepark instead of an open universe, then the game will be crap. If they instead make it somewhat of a sandbox and allow people to do what they want, but loosely direct them towards faction vrs. faction combat, then we are on to something.
