I downloaded and did all the configuration stuff required so I could play Ryzom. Only to find that the game lagged so bad (probably because of the configurations), it was not fun for me to play.
Sorry to hear that, maybe your system specs are a little low? Hopefully you will try again sometime when either you get a better system or you can find a good setting for your seystem

Fair enough, bad lag can kill the fun in any game.
I do know that Ryzom runs differently to alot of other MMOs so that some people were able to fix their lag problems by changing settings on their router and firewalls. If you want to try it again with those changes these are some links from the offical tech support forum that might help.
I have a pretty decent computer with a very good graphics card and 2 gigs of ram. When I only had 1 gig of ram it lagged slightly, with 2 gigs I am flying high no lag ever.
Looks like you may need to update your system. The games coming out now require much better graphics cards (better than I even have and mine is fairly new) and 2 gigs of RAM is going to be the norm soon.
Other then that, I mean the game is generally not laggy, if you turn your configuration settings down a bit you should be fine. If you have to play with THE BEST graphics on, obviously you're going to run into trouble if your computer specs aren't decent enough.
