Less then a month to release and nothing but rumours.I hear very high specs on this one and horrible on low setting .
I certainly hope its not making the mistake of EQ2 by building for the future .On paper it looks nice but in reality it drives loads of potential customers way .
Anyhow. If anyone got the recommended specs for the game would be great or an approximate.

We all know, that from a gamer point of view, recommended = minimum requirement if you actually plan on enjoying the game.
Someone with a dual processor at the very least would enjoy the game a LOT more, and somewhat raise all other "recommended" stuff.
This ain't particuliar to Vanguard, it is the same with every game coming out. Recommended should be read as "minimum" if you are a gamer...and even then, you want better than that...a LOT better than that.

I think I remember hearing the same thing about EQ1 in 99.
No game has ever required a brand new computer that parts alone would cost 2k plus. Wow has no very steep requirements and neither does GW. 9 mill accounts. Vanguard = most expensive mmo ever. Failur inc.
Most beta testers will tell that the specs this game truely needs to run well don't even exist yet to the general public. The specs listed above might get you 15 frames per sec. However the game will currently run on much lower specs than those listed suprisingly. Not well ofcourse, but that could be taken as a good sign i guess. We can only hope some serious optimization will take place before release.
1. Still in NDA so you obviously havent talked to MOST beta testers.
2. If you dont have the bleeding edge hardware, dont turn up all the options to max. Its common sense. Im sure that with options turned down halfway it will still look just as good as many other mmo's and will play better. You cant expect a new game to have better graphics just because its new, but you still have a 4 year old graphics card.
I've got a computer that can handle Vanguard, but a lot of people won't be able to play the game.
FUNCOM - putting the FUN in disFUNctional !
That is a blatant lie
Saying that the requirements are the same as WOW is just absurd
Oh there's no doubt the higher sys requirement will turn off a good chunk of the mmo playerbase. But if you guys look at what's releasing in the future, like the other mmo's releasing in 2007, you better start upgrading if you are looking to play anything past WoW. WoW unlike most people believe, is not the standard, and not all mmo's choose to utilize their type of engine that requires less pixels and less computer power. I'll be damned if all mmo's released in the future are anime or cartoony artistic.
So if you want to get mad at Vanguard for having high sys requirement, then so be it. But you'll be getting mad at future mmo's as well because they'll have pretty high recommended requirements as well. Yes Vanguard will pass up some players that don't have a good computer system. But that doesn't mean the game is going to suffer, nor does it mean that people won't start realizing that they really should upgrade if they want to play new games in 2007.

Big difference .Like someone said recommended means almost minimum. We already seen quite a few leaks from mid range systems showing terrible images of vangard.
In 1999 what was the issue was you needed a 3D video card. That was it .3D videocard came as standard in intel intergrated chipsets(on the MB) even in 1997 and it worked perfectly fine which i know because i used intergrated up to 2001 .And even if you wanted to buy a graphics card seperate .It worked fine on pentium 2 and 64mb RAM.And back then you could pick a TNT2 for £70 at launch in 1999 (about $130) a far cry from getting x1950xt for $350 which is even one gen old and reports are of it struggling to pass 20fps .So that means a 8800gts for $600?
The only time i noticed stutter and issues was in 2001 shortly before i quit .Thats 2 full years .
Anyhow lets wait and see what launch brings.
