DoA is the "elite" end game zone for people who have gotten all the way through Nightfall's story-based missions. FWIW, I wouldn't be in too big a hurry to get there unless you're a monk, tank (warrior), ranger, necro, or nuker (elementalist). See the thread farther down the page about my impressions of DoA.

the quests in this zone can take from 3 to 9 hours to complete
this is really for the elite hardcore players
prepare food and drinks , log in team speak or ventrilo , and spend a whole weekend inside a instance. i did one 9 hour run , its was a bit too much for me , even we did had fun , but got too tired.
now i go there just to farm gemstones and learn new tricks as people found them , but im always hoping people start to leave after 3 , 4 hours cose if no one leaves , lol , its another 9 hours inside :p

sounds rough to be in there for nine hours. i dont have nightfall but it seems you need to be a bit hardcore for those missions.

yep , totaly hardcore , at least for now , when people still dont know that easy fast way to do it , it might cut down that time to 3/5 hours in the future , but for now its too dam hard.

anyway , this zone its only after you finish the main story line , its a long way till you get there.

    Just a "head's up"...

Gaile Gray was in-game last night for a few minutes answering some of our questions. Several of us (yours truly included) raised the problems with DoA, not the least of which was the fact that some professions simply are not wanted there ('Sins, Dervishes and Paragons, to name three).

Gaile expressed some surprise that a Paragon would be kicked from a team in favor of another profession (I recounted my experience there) and suggested that "some people need to be a little more open-minded."

Gaile did say there would be an announcement about DoA in a few weeks but would not mention specifics. In a closing question (this was all very impromptu over open chat in Kamadan), I asked if Gaile could please pass along our concerns to the devs that DoA is "broken" regarding these unwanted/un-needed professions. Hopefully something will be done about this.

After the brief chat session, I logged my Paragon and went back to DoA to see what was happening. Here's what I found: half a dozen warriors, 3 or 4 monks, at least half a dozen nukers, a ranger, a dervish and my Paragon. Spams were going out from Warriors looking for nukers to do the "rebirth trick."

And when I mentioned in open chat how the whole zone had come down to warriors spamming for nukers, I was told in no uncertain terms from several people there that 'Sins, Dervs and Paragons were useless inside DoA.

Whether true or not, perception becomes reality and the reality is this: I worked my ass off to get there and would like to participate as a Paragon but can't because people want to win there, not experiemnt with different team builds. And while I resent not being able to get on a team, I certainly understand why: because 'Sins and Dervs are too squishy to take the damage the way Warriors can and Paragons don't heal or protect as well as monks (or even Rits, for that matter) and they can't out-damage even the crappiest Elementalist or Necro build.

One way or another, something is going to have to change. Either these other builds are going to have to get buffed to be able to participate there, or DoA is going to have to be turned down a few notches, otherwise the zone will eventually just become a ghost town.

    IMHO.

    "Is this place fun?"

Dude, it's hell in every sense of the word. Unless your idea of "fun" is spending a few hours in virtual hell getting your a$$ kicked by virtual demons, then no, it isn't fun. It's a grind but I'd be willing to do it if I could get that last hero. Problem is Paragons aren't welcome on teams there.

Why? Is it because people are idiots? Last time I checked, a Paragon was able to soak large amounts of damage on the team by boosting armor to the stratosphere. Note that I haven't been in DoA yet, though.
