ok, to make it really simple start at 0, and count 10 then start at 1 then count 10, that is why there are 1001 because they started on 1 not 0 . if they started at 0, and had 1001 confirmed, then yes there would be 1001 winners

Ok, I can't believe I am continuing this, but 1 to 1001 equals 1001 people! I don't know what crazy world you are living in, but it must be a place where simple laws of arithmetic do not apply. Let's do it this way...
I want you to physically count each of the names below with your finger. Count out loud if you must. 1-10 equals 10 people. Zero to 9 would give you ten digits. Zero to 10 would give you 11. It is that simple. Am I wrong here? Why is this bothering me so much?

lol you just proved yourself wrong. 0-9 would give you 10.... so... 0-1000 would give you oh wait wait 1001... but IT STARTED ON 1 not 0! wait wait twisting the brain!
0-1000 is 1000 1-1001 is 1000 digit wise, they probably set it up where a computer would pick it, and the computer thinking its starting at 1 so needs to go to 1001, but its thier mess up.
AAAAAAAAAAAAARG! Can someone else please help me out! Is this logic not bothering anyone else? Seriously Apoc, are you purposely f**king with my mind! Please, READ EVERY WORD OF THE FOLLOWING!
- You said yourself that 0 to 9 would be 10. We both agree on this.
- Therefore, we can form a mathematicl expression for an instance where you start on 0. It would be:
Total number of 'units' = the last number counted to + 1
Ok, just to make sure of this, let's sub in the thing that we agree on. 0 to 9 is 10:
Total number of 'units' (10) = the last number counted to (9) + 1
Look at that! The expression works. It is equal on both sides. So, let's try subbing in what you are arguing. You are saying that if you start on zero, when you get to 1001, you will have 1001 units...
Total number of 'units' (1001) = the last number counted to (1001) + 1
1001 = 1002
Uh oh! Something is wrong. You see, when starting on zero, 1001 will actually give you 1002.
So, when will 1001 actually be 1001? To make this happen you have to take away one digit from the right side of the equation. How do you do this in 'real life'? By simply counting one less number OR by starting one number later - like on 1 instead of 0.
So, now we can conclude that if we start on 1, we must subtract 1 from the right side of the equation:
Total number of 'units' = the last number counted to + 1 - 1
Subbing this in for 1001, what will the final count on the units be?
Total number of 'units' = the last number counted to + 1 - 1
Total number of 'units' = 1001 + 1 - 1
Total number of 'units' = 1001
So, there you have it. When starting on the number 'one' (as does the list of winners), when you reach 1001, you really do have 1001.
Conclusion: There are 1001 winners.
Okay, I'm sure many of you think I'm nuts for taking my time to do this, but for some reason it is just bothering me. And Apoc, do not take offence to my tone. I'm sure you are simply confused. It happens to me all the time.
Yea i confused myself, i thought about it too much and somthing poped... =/ but we are both right, you are right there are 1001 winners like i said TWISTING THE BRAIN AHHH
Still confused about one thing though (and I hate to keep harping on this) - how do you figure there are only 1000 digits?
Logically, there has to be one digit for each winner, so how can there be one diget less than there are winners? Do you see what I'm saying? There are only 1000 digits.
God damn clowns wont leave me alone.... voices... ah anyway, all i was saying was the computer counts 0-1000 so we have 1000 but since it started on 1 it had to go to 1001 because of how it was programed, but it still gave us 1001, just a computer glicth/screwup on thier part
lol people are going to hate us if they dotn already
Lol no shit, i wish there was a way we could PM each other and spare other people of this... and if there is i have yet to find it... though i have never looked
Many many (many) people were bouncing back and forth before the draw for an account. We had a small discussion and concluded one more winner couldn't hurt

im too tired to think anymore
Thank you. I feel better now, lol.

LOL, okay. I see what you're saying. I think we should both be able to sleep a little better tonight now that this is all cleared up.

So there you go, the mystery has been solved.
"Congratulations! You are the 0th winner!"
