Wintersday Hats?

Does anyone know how we're supposed to get the hats on Wintersday/January 1st? Do we get them automatically by just logging in, or do we have to do something?

Dwayna and Grenth will visit every 3 hours (like the Mad King on Halloween).  You'll need to participate in one of those sessions to get a hat.  Last year, those supporting Dwayna got a Santa cap and those supporting Grenth got antlers.

I'm a bit confused, I've never done an event before....do you mean, we have to be there at an exact time, or we have to do some kind of special event in between when they show up or something?

Starting at 12:00am PST, both Dwayna and Grenth will appear in Lion's Arch and Kamadan.  I can't say for sure what exactly will happen this year, but last year you just had to stand near the one you were supporting while they hurled insults back and forth at each other for 20-30 minutes.  Besides the random Wintersday items you'll automatically get in your inventory, at the end of the event each one gives their supporters a hat before they leave.  The process repeats every 3 hours.
