Wifi connection from anywhere?

I thought I read something about this awhile back, but never really needed it until now. I am moving farther away from work, and would like to have internet access on my laptop. The distance is far greater then my router can handle.

So anyway is there any services out there that provide wireless internet access from just about anywhere, perhaps via cell towers? I tried searching on google, but I'm not exacly sure what I sould be looking for, so any help is greatly appreciated.

I don't remember exactly what it is called but there is a fairly expensive system you can use that links you to the internet via a satellite connection, I'm pretty sure it runs for about $300.

If you don't feel like spending $300 the only other option is finding someone elses wireless connection and using it, if you can't find that I'm not sure that you really don't have many options.
