My friend purchased all 3 games awhile back and was getting ready to install them when he asked me a question I wasn't sure about. I'm aware you can pretty much install any version of the game, and then it will just download the other games as you progress through the game and load each new zone. But now I'm at a point where I'm reinstalling my OS from scratch, so I'm gonna have to reinstall Guildwars myself.
So the question is this. If I install each Guildwars game (prophecies, factions, nightfall) will that cut back on having to download each zone for each of the games, or will nightfall installation pretty much override all of them (since it will be the last one I install) and end up having to download each zone from prophecies and factions as I play through them?
Hopefully that question made sense.

Simply because it is cheap to add a few MB to a dvd/cd then bandwidth.

Nightfall doesn't have Prophecies or Factions in it, so if you intend to use all three on the same account, I'd install each starting with Prophecies. Just make sure when you install Factions and nightfall, you select "add to an existing account."
I just had to do a clean OS install on an upgraded system, and this is the way I did it. If you have broadband it won't take long to download the zone data.
I agree, just install Nightfall because it has already everything you need. (The .dat file with all data for all 3 campaigns is between 2.5-2.9gb, the single layer dvd that you install from can hold 4.3gb).
If you install older versions you download the files you need but thats slower than installing from them dvd.
