Why does everyone wear robes? Is armor that ugly? will new graphics fix it?

I thought you could dye your armor in this game. Except, everyone still wears robes.

With the Kingdom reborn coming out, Will the armor actually look good?

The armor used to be made of leather and steel, now it's made of skittles and candy canes.

    couple reasons.

If the account is a 3yo veteran account they might be wearing a veteran robe and cloak which gives +3 armour.

Two when Age of Shadows came in, armour was mix and matched, sometimes you wore a couple different pieces of leather armour, or a couple different pieces of mail/plate armour. So the task was very difficult to get a set of armour that looked nice together.

Age of Shadows also brought the many colors of neon which some people didn't like as well but had to wear/use because it was the best available.

Some PvP'ers also wore robes to hide exactly what they were wearing. IE, there was say a bright neon white chestpiece of armour that was readily identifiable, so you wore a non-descript robe to hide what you were wearing or who you were.

I had a veteran account and use to wear bright neon fire robe and cloak. Just because I could. On my Ethereal mount.

Will KR make armor look good? Well yes because in the new screenshots you can cearly see armor which was dyed. I think they are approaching neons with a DAOC kinda look. Meaning when you dye something metal it has a light tint to it keeping the overall look of metal armor. Also the devs have stated before that they do not like neon aswell. So with KR expect a transition kinda like how DAOC transitioned to their new graphics engine just those colors won't be as bright...OMG I WANT KR NOW!!!!

My knight, Dormilo Flynigart Koor, wore the humble, grey robes of a monk when he was off-duty, eschewing vanity.
