if nothing else they will learn from what few failures DAoC had and WAR will be perfect
Well, I'm a fan of DAOc.... but I'm thinking there's no game that can perfect... especially for everyone. Assuming it will have a deep Pvp/RvR element, it is also safe to assume that the Pve might not be as deep as other games. if so, that doesn't make WAR a bad game...just focused to a different audiance.
Some people love to craft.... but I don't... that difference alone can change perceptions about a game. Force me to craft and I won't play.....
In fact, now that I think of it...I'm not too fond of being forced to do anything in my games. i want it to always be my choice..and I want my choices to be more or less equally valid....
There should always be more than one path to glory....

Which is a LOT better than SoE. SoE never make a "come back" move when they do a mistake, never.
Now, if they can understand that most players they just want no-raiding and PvE grouping...bah...too bad they won't understand, but I still am going to give them a good chance...it is warhammer.
Imperator was better, design-wise...it is a shame they regress from Imperator...but well, will wait to play the game to actually sentence them!
What could be really cool, and I wouldn't even think of suggesting such a crazy idea to anyone but Mythic...maybe they could duplicate each server when they add an expansion, players are free to play on server A or A2, the second has the expansion, the first doesn't. Both have your toon as it was on server A on the release of the expansion. Later Mythic will have to handle some merging, but players CHOOSE on which servers to play, with which expansions or not. I am sure it would raise many challenges for programmers, but basically their players would judge their designers, expansion after expansion...and that alone might motivate a programmer to work harder! This could be kept as a safeguard only for an expansion or two, expansions that CHANGE the game a lot.

O I will at least try it just like I will at least try alot of the new games. Hopefully they will take some ques from blizzard and not take forever to make positive changes to classes who need buffs.
Hopefully they will make a uniqe game and never ever copy the crap that WoW is. SWG is now a copy of WoW, and look where that got it...
First off, I played DAoC for just under 5 years and was very very pleased with my gaming experience. Did Mythic implement things i didn't like? of course they did. Show me one person that plays MMOs that doesn't have a grip about the game they currently play. If the original poster thought DAoC was such a "steaming pile of dog poo", why did he keep playing for years.
Mythic does a fine job of listening to their community. Each class has a representative from the gaming community that, monthly, gathers with Mythic staff to discuss balance and world issues. Why would a company do this if they weren't thinking of the community first? Heck i was even e-mailed a couple of times by Mythic staff after making a couple of suggestions about how to improve the game. We exchanged e-mails a couple times tossing ideas back and forth. Granted nothing ever came of those ideas, but they took the time to listen. Who knows since I've been gone for a little over a year maybe they did use my ideas in a reconfigured way. Point is they listened open mindedly and seemed very willing to change the game for the better. This is the only gaming company that I've dealt with thats been that interested in what others have to say, and with that kind of attitude they deserve and will get my undying support
The fact of the matter is EVERYONE makes mistakes. We're human. So long as we learn from our mistakes of our past, we should no be subject to major ridicule. WAR will NOT repeat the mistakes of DAoC. Will there be new mistakes? undoubtedly, but i have faith that Mythic will do everything in their power to rectify these mistakes.

that is going to happen no matter what the game is. A game as old as DAOC is not going to be the great game it has been in the past cuz then you would complain about nothing to do and what not. So MMOs get crapier with age like any popular one will do. Did you actually expect the game to stay great and the way you wanted it forever or what?
It's being made by Mythic After spending years playing DAoC and watching a great game turn in to a pile of steaming dog doo ill never spend my money on another mythic product. I have no doubt that this game will most likely get offf to a great start just as DAoC did. I also have no doubt that in the long run Mythic will do with it just as it has done with DAoC start out great and go to hell in a hand basket shortly there after. Either due to inability or un willingness to it oftens takes mythic years to admit there mistakes let alone fix them. They have poor customer service. Just to name a couple of things. I don't want to rant so ill leave it at that. Why am I even bothering to post this here? Because if I can save one person from going through the agrevation and disapointment and continual let downs I have expirianced with DAoC it will be well worth it.
i know what a ham basket is, but what the hell is a hand basket?

i know what a ham basket is, but what the hell is a hand basket? "going to hell in a handbasket" is an exceptionally common phrase in North America that has slowly made the transition into (British) English vernacular, for more information:
O I will at least try it just like I will at least try alot of the new games. Hopefully they will take some ques from blizzard and not take forever to make positive changes to classes who need buffs.
Mythic was bad but they had 40 classes. Blizzard has 9 and they may fix classes but they also screw others when they fix. Ok well druids, warlocks and hunters are uber now and shaman, warriors and mages can suck it for a while. It's like the polar opposite of release day 2 years later! WoW was great and is great (though I got tired of the raiding grind) but Blizzard devs are FAR from perfect. There's been tons of bugs that have stayed for a long time simply because they only do big patches.
Not to mention they can't even balance shaman vs paladins. Mythic has almost 100% A-symetrical realms (X3!!) and manages to get some pretty decent balance. IMO if they hadn't made the game so reliant on CC they would have about 50-70% less problems.
Mythic also has Games Workshop riding their asses on this game. This isn't Mythics IP, its someone elses. And given the following that Warhammer has both as a pen and paper game, and a miniature wargame, it should do fairly well.
Realy? look at what happend to D&D Online. But hopefully that won't be the case with WAR
Honestly I will probly try it. And yes DAoC was a great game. And still has lots of potential. I am tempted all the time to renew one of my accounts and log in. But its just not the game it was when I loved it. Hopefully they have learned from there mistakes. But damn I hope when they make a mistake with WAR it wont take them years to fix them let a lone admit to them.
and so does everybody else. In the end, even with all the mistakes made, DAOC was the best mmorpg I've played and I look forward to their next gen product.
When all is said and done (and I was done with DAOC years ago) that is the bottom line for me, too.
When I want a single-player story, I'll play a single-player game. When I play an MMO, I want a massively multiplayer world.

What the hell is basing his allusions on ? Did he play DAOC beta for 2 months then quit ?
FUNCOM - putting the FUN in disFUNctional !
Nice try - but remember:
Mythic Entertainment are no more! - They are now owned by EA. You really think EA will let the game go to hell in a handbasket?
I think not - there's too much money to lose if it does, and EA arn't ones to lose money.

Yes, this game should get a large following because of the Warhammer games' popularity.
...Then they'll quit because they made this game using the P.U.S.S.Y. system.

Yep.
