Anyone else unable to connect to eve server?

For some reason I'm unable connect to the eve servers, I cant get the eve-online website up either. Anyone else having this problem today?

There is an extended downtime today for approx 24 hrs.  Stinks, I know but these come along every once in awhile.  Usually this place gets busy around these DT's, which is why I'm here.

Guess you're one of those people that ignore the news item that show's up in the character selection screen huh? No worries, I do that sometime too.



Anyway server will be down for a scheduled 24 hour downtime. It may come up before that but CCP has advised that they won't be responsible if you get killed or lose items because of a bug if you try to login before the 24 hour is over. (At least that's how I read it )



So in the mean  time, get out of the house, walk to the park and smell the roses (unless it's winter where you are as well )

I've been offline for a few days and don't remember anything being said before I was off about a downtime.



Could someone please give details about this (Reason, time it's due up, that sort of thing)?  Looks like the main website is down as well.

Something about an external server upgrade and a database fix. Don't quote me on that though, memory is at 10

Extended Downtime from 1100 GMT on Thursday 4 January, to 1100 GMT on Friday 5 January

On Thursday, 4 January, Tranquility will undergo an extended 24 hour downtime for external network infrastructure changes and database server software updates. We do not expect the changes and upgrade to exceed 12 hours and hope to allow connections to Tranquility sooner; however we cannot guarantee network stability or connectivity until after the end of the scheduled downtime.



Users that log in before the end of the scheduled downtime will be playing 'at risk' and will not be reimbursed for losses incurred by upgrade related issues.



We apologize for the inconvenience the extended downtime will cause for some members of the community and encourage training a long duration skill.

From 11am today the server is offline for Database maintenance and server fixes. This is something that has to be done occasionally its stuff like defragging replacing old equiptment fitting upgrades etc.

The server will be up 12 hours from 11AM but they cant garantee stability or your charecters safety till at least 24 hours after 11AM.

 

Thats basically all you need to know really.

You know.. I'm just waiting for someone to spin.. "24 hour downtime!  Ha!  That's why WoW is better than EVE!" ...I'm not sure how that war started.. but.. why does 1 three letter game hate the other? Can't we all get along?!

Thanks for the reply, Snapp.  Much appreciated.  As far as reading skills go, I totally agree with you, Taram.  However I fail to see what it has to do with this thread, really That being said, I propose a drive for worldwide literacy by the year 2050!  Come on, I think it's doable!

Hmm... I think that we should adopt a worldwide language as well!  I think we should al learn Caldari!
