Will this graphic card work for vanguard?

Okay I have a pretty good system besides the graphic card



amd 64 4200 dual processor

2gig ddr2 ram

250 gig hard drive



but my graphic card sucks its a geforce 128mb 6100



So i need to get a new graphic card but don't have tons of money so i was thinking of picking up this card and want to know if it will work or not.

Namon - You can probably run the game, because while I have a better graphics card, I have less RAM and people are saying that 2GB or RAM really helps.   I can run the game, but even at low settings I get terrible FPS around other players (even a small number of them).  My guess is that your system will run better than mine though.



Get the preorder beta and find out.  It's kind of weird because there are people I know in real life who are saying they have similarly bad performance but they have much better computer rigs than yours or mine, and then there are people with rigs that are just mid-range like our own that are reporting that the game is very playable and that performance is okay for them.

Yeah i'm sorry i didn't stat in my previous post, I've tried the game and i get like 3 fps, its really really bad where i can't move, but my wife can play it pretty decent even though my computer is far supierior in every way besides she has a better graphic card. So i was assuming that is what it was.

I think I heard of someone playing the game with a X1300, but I wouldn´t expect to get an impresive perfomance, enought to be playable in low settings and real laggy in city areas most probably, but thats just a guess



anyway you will get way better perfomance once tweaked with the x1300 than with your card, and those 2gigs of ram and 4.2GHz will surely help, just dont expect miracles

Personally, I don't think the X1300 is going to cut it.  Even the X1600 seems a doubtful card to run the game with good graphics.  Anything other than the X1900 and better has a 128-bit interface, and a lot of them have rather slow clock speed (400Mhz-ish), and their memory bandwidth is often only in the 20G/sec range.  Here's what I'm running, and I can get balanced (sometimes high) settings without too much lag.

AMD Athlon 64x2 4200+

1Gb DDR2 PC4200

Geforce 7950 GT (Overclocked to 600Mhz and 1600Mhz memory speed) w/512Mb DDR3

So, the extra gig of ram you have is going to make a good difference, but I would at least make sure you're getting a 256-but card with a decent clock speed (500+Mhz would be good).  And hopefully they will make some changes to their system to optimize performance better during open beta.  (Although most MMOs continue to do so after release)  When Turbine released DDO, they still had "rubber-banding" issues and a relatively bad optimization.  Give them a month or 2, and it should make a difference.  With my system, I should be getting 60+FPS on a game like this, and I'm often given about half that...

If it's possible I would get a higher end video card, but it would run alot better than the one you had.

Also, keep in mind that while you do get better performance that someone with, say, a Intel Pentium D (dual core), this game is not utilizing dual-core processing, so you're not going to beat out people with a good single core processor until that happens.  Anyone with a higher end P4 or a 64 FX is probably going to trounce you (and me for that matter).  But we are the wave of the future!   It's just good you didn't get one of those Pentium D's like I almost did, thinking the extra speed would make it better. (it doesn't)  Also, if you have the time, and feel like it, you could always benchmark your current system with 3DMark06 and compare it to similar systems online.  Then you could see where people are beating your performance and what card they are using to do it.  It's a really good way to get ideas on increasing your overall gaming performance.

Once you finish it will put you online to see your results and submit them.  There you can compare to similar machines with different cards.  Check it out!  Hope that helps...  Also, ATI is the devil!

X1300 isnt very good choice.

Problem with some of those ATI cards is that they use a 128-bit interface instead of a 256-bit.  Keep an eye on that.  They're sneaky.  Not to mention that some of them have pretty low clock speeds and don't even overclock that well...  Also, check the benchmarks at like www.tomshardware.com and you'll see that most of the ATI cards (except the crossfire setups) fall behind even the Nvidia 7xxx series.  Check out the 3DMark06 scores for single-card ATI setups too...

EDIT: I mentioned this in a different post, but for the money, the XFX geForce 7900 GT XXX is the best card.  It's less than $200 after the rebate, and it's faster by far than the other models, including the eVGA GT KO.
