I think this can be looked at in many diffrent ways.

    1. There are many things even in a relationship your significant other will not do. Threesomes, the butt or........ the whole taboo fetish thing. An adult mmorpg would draw people that want to explore these things.

2.Why do adult couples buy toys at sex shops? To add a little adventure to there sex Life. An adult MMorpg could also work as a toy or tool to spice up a couples sex life.

3.The lonely. Maybe physicaly or mentally handicapped people that can not achieve a normal sex life could also find some sexual gratification from this.

4.The concept could not be purely sex to succeed. This would only be aimed at the male population. An all male adult mmorpg would not fair so well. There also has to be Romantic, emotional, and mental stimulation to attract the female community.

I think its funny the people that try and make it out like the only thing you could do with this concept is yanky the wanky. Sexuality is mental and spiritual along with physical. This concept has been around for ever. There is plug in usb vibrators for crying out loud. Sex will not destroy us as a race before violence, and hatred does.

Sex in games is already here, do a google for Sociolotron or hentai. The japanses have been playing sex games almost as long as there have been pc's, it is the west that is taking ages to take up the market (and has such a big hangup about it). There is plenty of room for sex in games, sex doesnt have to be a purely physical thing, its just as much mental. Sex games allow you to explore alternative sexualities such as fetishes, bondage, S&M etc etc. What these games may trigger however is a much stronger response to the effect of playing games on the people who play them. If you explore alternatives enough do you become comfortable with them and bring them into your real life?

It's too early to say what the Staple of the "Gameplay" would actually deliver on because there hasn't been a break-away hit on ANY MMO's yet that use something besides the tired old Levelup-through-combat system of MMORPGs or random killing.   The closest thing so far is these combat and "social" games modified by the users to have Random-Sex.  Ironically, these games built to work as combat or building Sims/Games, seem to have the Sex-involved players focusing on just that, getting more sex for no actual in-game reward or progression.    This means a designer might not actually have that big of a challenge in the rewards-department to keep people playing it.

Their real challenge would probably be in providing the highest quality content and the most customization possible.   ...Which seem to be at odds with eachother.   Second Life for example provides the ultimate in customization and freedom to pursue all kinks, the price of course is pockets of really butt-ugly characters huddling together like like Sexual-Lepers, bespeckling the once-viable game world and driving away everyone else in that area.  Meanwhile a game with too much control over the content will have trouble appealing to all the demographics needed to keep the cash-flow up, thus keep that content flowing into the game.

Unlikely to happen in the west. What happened to the development company in your story is they couldn't find someone to provide funds, because at the end of the day if Wal-Mart wont put a game on the shelves in America - it doesn't get published. Which means the publisher wont fund a game that Wal-mart wont sell.

In Australia we don't have a r-rating for games. Which means the Adult only mmorpg cant be sold in Australia. Sure I could buy it on-line and download it but more people buy in stores than online here. Not that Australia is a big market for game companies anyway :)

a virtual adult MMO with bonking and all the rest sounds like a good idea and would probably make money if done properly. However even if it was for free I'd never go near it. The reason being that the hot girl that works at the virtual strip bar and is into beastiality is just some sad bloke in his mothers basement tossing off like a madman!

Besides I like to kill people online, humping them doesn't interest me (even after killing them).

"Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience"

The only Adult-MMO that would interest me, even for a moment, would be a Fallout MMO.

Hell, even that franchise doesn't rely solely on drugs and sex, though they play a large role in the world.

If you wanna just hump something, why not grab a hooker?

Waiting for something fresh to arrive on the MMO scene...

The point most people make on this post is so much of a physical nature. Ok let me take you guys back a bit. Older people:) the excitment of looseing your virgin self was more of a mental rush than a physical. The build up makes the climax. If a adult mmorpg is done right that Rush can be duplicated. Rewards are hard to cum by:). Not everyone gets rewards. The more you play the more you can do. You cant just build a mmorpg around sex. You have to throw in some level based progression. You have to throw in romance. You have to throw in some violence. The sexual part is just a added part. People get married in MMorpgs mights as well add some sexual revolutions. I have played second life and i think its just a chat room with strings. Ugly garphics and lag. We will see what the future brings.

  • I prefer the real thing. You should try it, it's waaay better than cartoons.

The last post is what I am talking about. I am sure I have seen alot more and have done alot more than you could dream of. The point Is not well I would rather do it in real life. It is. Does the concept have a mass audience. http://www.slprofiles.com/slprofiles.asp?id=3193
Im sure all you guys flexing your chest saying I get laid in real life have a true understanding of how to please a woman ,as much as you have any business sense. Sex sells.

  • VinzentVinzent Member Posts: 161

Sex does sell, but only so far as society will allow it to sell. I've already written a business-like breakdown of why It will probably never be the future of MMOs.

Of course, there already exist many chatrooms that perhaps do the same thing as what one would consider a sex MMO. If you want to include avatars and make it a more visual medium than a chatroom, that could also work, but I don't see it being something that could be marketted. It would have to be free.

If the intent is to somehow create gameplay associated with sexual acts, that runs into a different problem all together. The centers of our brain connected to sex and the centers connected to problem solvivng (aka gameplay) are very different. Players minds might become so engaged in the gameplay that the aren't activitating the sex center. It's sort of why doctors and artists don't (always) get horny every time they see someone naked. Their minds are often oly thinking about the job.

Just saw this thread lol hmm.. I dont think it'll ever happen.. for our sakes. Besides why play an adult mmo when there is porn or *real* people. Anyone can have sex just log on to some sex chat in your area. Not to mention what rating would it get? M? There are still kids that would play it and well soliciation of sex to a minor is illegal so even if it's just a game it'd get out of control... anyway that might have been said but that's my 2 cents.

As someone who does a lot of umm... female figure drawing, lol...  I feel I can expand on this.  Some of it depends on your mood, and you are right... when you're in the spacial and problem solving mode, you're not prone to getting a raging boner right then.  ..but something else CAN happen which is a definite build up of psychological libido.   And maybe it's just b/c I'm ADHD, but I find that the brain chemicals responsible for that eventually overwhelm even if there isn't even a drop testosterone or other hormones in the blood.   Point is, if the fantasy or imagery you're focussed on is aesthetically pleasing enough, it WILL start to compete the thinking processes of the mind and by the time you notice that it is, it's already too late and then you eventually gotta "relieve the pressure" LoL.
