A member's perspective: I felt it was important that I assist our prospective applicants understand a little more about our guild, my goals as a player, and why Conflict was the right home for me.
My most recent game obsession was Guild Wars, sure there was other games before that but that's where my last two years were invested. Vanguard was the only logical next choice after I grew frustrated with a beautiful and fun game that didn't have enough content and just left me wanting more.
In Guild Wars I had three guilds. One that was composed of personal real life friends, one that was
#57 on the Guild vs. Guild ladder, and one that held control of the most popular city for nearly 2 months. With my personal friend's guild there was no drive to accomplish. I'd find myself online for 8 hours and hardly see half of them come online even briefly. In my GvG guild we had a lot of fun but I never really clicked with them. With my PvE faction guild that controlled the biggest city there was no personality. We'd play together for hours at a time but we hardly knew eachother. I felt obligated to play with them rather than enjoying playing with them.
Conflict was right for me because it brought together all the things that I'd been missing in a guild. In Conflict I come online in the evening and know to expect to pull together a group and pound out a level or a couple quests or do something that will leave me feeling accomplished. They are a great group of people I am glad to call my friends because they are intelligent and dedicated not only to bettering themselves as players but also dedicated to each other and to the betterment of the guild. Everyone is mature and intelligent and laid back so I know I can tell them to shut up or swear a couple times and I don't have to worry about them rage quiting or their parents. There is no drama, there is need before greed. I craft my butt off on the days we don't group together, and have the time to do the things I want to do. When I go out on a date with my girlfriend no one gives me crap about taking a night off. I look to the future and see a well conceived plan for how we are going to accomplish long term goals of becoming a well respected guild that will be able to handle the highest levels of content. With Conflict I feel there is nothing that we will not be able to accomplish given time.
With Conflict I look forward to learning to play my class to it's fullest, seeing everything that this game has to offer, and gaining long term friendships. There is no rush to get to the raid content, there is no rush to the max level, but it will be accomplished and these things will be done.
